Coach Dave Leonard has been hired as an assistant men's soccer coach ahead of the fall 2026 season, which will be his first with the Lackawanna College men's soccer program.
Leonard previously spent his time at fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member Shepherd University, where he served as an assistant coach/goalkeeper coach with both the men's and women's teams. Leonard joined the men's squad in the spring of 2024, mentoring a United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region honoree in the fall 2024 campaign. He later joined the women's squad in the spring 2025 semester.
Leonard has an extensive coaching background, with previous coaching duties as an assistant/goalkeeper coach at Hood College (2016-17) and also at Frederick Community College (2014-16). He has been a youth soccer coach for the Eastern Panhandle Inter-County (EPIC) soccer club since 2014 and has been the club goalkeeper coach since 2016. Leonard has been technical director at EPIC since 2019.
Leonard holds his USSF B license and USC Goalkeeper Level 1 certification. He is a Tovo Academy and APFC Positional Play graduate. Leonard adds a MBP Scouting and Analysis Course.
Leonard, a 2014 Shepherd graduate, was a four-year member of the Shepherd men's soccer team in his time with the Rams. He also played two years of tennis for Shepherd.
