BRANCHBURG, NJ – Lackawanna College softball left little doubt in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, scoring a combined 55 runs to sweep past Raritan Valley CC in Region XIX DII action in New Jersey, winning 26-0 and 29-0 in a pair of run-rule shortened contests.

The Falcons (27-8, 11-1) were led by
Riley Knott (Clarks Summit, PA), who had a historic day at the plate, combining for 20 RBIs, four home runs, and three doubles across the pair of contests. In the game one victory, she was 4-for-4 with three runs, a walk, and eleven RBIs, smacking an inside the park homer, followed by a grand slam, all a part of an eleven-run second inning that broke the game wide open. Lackawanna took advantage of six errors from Raritan (1-9, 1-9), resulting in 12 unearned runs.

Other standouts included
Alexis Shotwell (Lehman, PA) drawing five walks and scoring four runs,
Tori May (New Castle, PA) posting three hits and scoring four runs, and both
Laniah Tasker (Chambersburg, PA) and
Ayahna Fleisher (Duncannon, PA) each scoring four runs. Starting pitcher
Mekenzie Revere (Ansonia, CT) earned the shutout win, her tenth victory of the season, striking out eight and giving up just one hit.

In game two, Knott hit another grand slam, followed by a two-run inside-the-parker, finishing with nine RBIs and four runs scored in the 29-0 Lackawanna victory in five innings. The Falcons scored eleven runs in the first inning, and took advantage of eight errors from the Lions.

Mackenzie Adolfson (Throop, PA) had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer, and finished with three RBIs, while Revere came off the bench to post four RBIs on three hits.
Mia Scalese (Moscow, PA) drew two walks and scored three runs, and the Falcons posted seven extra-base hits. Starter
Abigail Yenalevitch (Kingston, PA) was great, giving up just four hits in five innings for the shutout and her fourth win of the season. She struck out six and didn't walk anybody, while the Falcons turned two double-plays on defense.

The pair of wins pushes Lackawanna's region record to 11-1, four-full games ahead of Mercer County CC (7-1). Lackawanna College will be back to region action on Thursday, April 9
th, with a home doubleheader against County College of Morris. First pitch is set for 3:00pm ET at Scranton HS softball field, and the match-up is the second doubleheader between the Titans and the Falcons. Lackawanna swept the first meeting, winning by scores of 25-0 and 26-1 back on March 26
th.
