SCRANTON, Pa. -- The second Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year is Lackawanna College football linebacker, Aamir Pender (Philadelphia, PA)!

Pender is a first-year student-athlete at Lackawanna College. This past weekend, he made the most of his playing time early in the contest, racking up three tackles in one series alone to deny the Detroit Community Christian College Lions a chance to tie the game in the first quarter, eventually spurring the Falcons on to their dominant 83-0 win. After a Falcons' score put Lackawanna on top, 7-0, the Lions drove down the field and hit a big pass play to get first-and-goal from the seven. Needing a stop, the Falcons turned to Pender. On first down, he shot through the line and hit the running back three yards behind the line for a loss. On second-and-goal, he gave chase after the quarterback, grabbed him by the shirt collar near the sideline, and threw him backwards for a loss of 12, setting up third-and-goal from the 22. On third down, the outside pressure forced the QB to climb the pocket, where Pender shed his blocker and hit the QB from behind for his second straight sack, his third straight TFL, and a major third down stop. Detroit threw incomplete on fourth down, turned the ball over, and never got close to the end zone again.

Pender's three stops were his season-high so far, and he has five total tackles on the season, placing him in a four-way tie for fifth on the team this season. He's the only Falcon with multiple sacks this year, and his three tackles-for-loss are tied for the team-high.
