SCRANTON, Pa. -- The NJCAA Football committee announced Wednesday on its social media page the NJCAA Players of the Week across Division I and Division III football, and the DI Offensive POTW is Lackawanna College football quarterback, Jacob Tiberi (Smyrna, DE)!

Tiberi is a first-year transfer to Lackawanna, studying Professional Studies. Making his first appearance in a Lackawanna uniform, as well as his first collegiate start, Tiberi was an immediate hit, throwing for 330 yards and five touchdowns in the 45-21 victory over Sussex County CC on Saturday afternoon in the Lackawanna College opener. Tiberi hit five different receivers for his five scores, and completed passes to ten different targets on the afternoon. He had a stretch through the first and second quarter where he completed nine straight throws. The Falcons trailed 21-20 at halftime, but a squibbed kick turned into an onside recovery for Lackawanna to start the third, and Tiberi immediately led the Falcons to paydirt, hitting his receiver Christian Harrison (Temple Hills, MD) in stride for a 21-yard go-ahead touchdown, all while getting his legs taken out on the throw.

Tiberi is in a four-way tie for third in the country for touchdown passes (5), despite only playing one game. His 26 completions were one shy of tying a single-game record for the Falcons, and his five TDs were also one shy of tying a single-game record.

Jacob was named as the Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week earlier this week for his performance.

#13 Lackawanna is back to work on Saturday, September 13th, with an away contest at Detroit Community Christian College. Kickoff is at 1:00pm ET at Renaissance High School in Detroit.
