SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College baseball earned its first Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week nomination this season, as first-year student-athlete
Deacon Brown (Williamsport, PA) was named as the Player of the Week in the EPAC this past week, according to a release from the conference on Monday morning.
Brown was the EPAC Baseball POTW recipient, while Kylee Hill from Delaware Tech softball earned the nod on the softball side.
Deacon had a stellar week for the Falcons, as he was a combined 8-for-11 (.727 BA) with 7 runs, 7 RBIs, 2 2Bs, and 2 HRs in four games this past week. He had a 2.268 OPS, which included a 1.455 slugging percentage and a 0.813 OBP. Brown drew four walks and was hit by a pitch last week, too. Against Del Tech on Friday, he went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored, hitting two doubles and two home runs. He was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and a walk against Gloucester on Tuesday, then was a combined 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in doubleheader action on Saturday against DTCC. Brown has a 15-game hitting streak, and leads the Falcons in total hits (28). He's a .459 hitter, and is second on the team with 19 runs scored. He's got eight doubles and 21 RBIs, and holds a 1.390 OPS, tops on the squad. Deacon has drawn eleven walks and has a team-high .570 OBP this year.
Deacon and the Falcons get back to action with a region divisional cross-over at Delaware County CC tomorrow, Wednesday, March 26th, when Lackawanna travels to take on Delaware County CC. First pitch against the Phantoms is set for 3:30pm ET.
