SCRANTON, Pa. -- The twenty-third Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year is Lackawanna College baseball student-athlete, Julian Montez (Westfield, NJ)!

Julian had a monster weekend, going 4-for-8 (.500) with ten RBIs and a run scored. In the game one win against Southern Maryland on Saturday, Montez had a three-run homer, a two-run single, a sac fly, and a bases-loaded walk to add up to seven RBIs in the 16-8 victory. He added a two-run single in game two, which the Falcons won 16-2. For the weekend, he had a 1.375 OPS, fueled by a .875 slugging percentage. On the year, Montez is hitting .556 in just five games, posting a 1.760 OPS. He has two homers and 14 RBIs, tied for the team-high. His 1.222 slugging percentage is first on the team, and he leads the Falcons with a .538 OBP.

Montez is a sophomore student-athlete at Lackawanna College, and he's a two-sport athlete, spending the fall semester as the starting nose tackle with Lackawanna College football. The Falcons won their latest contest on Tuesday afternoon against SUNY Ulster CC and will be back in action this Saturday, March 14th, when they take on SUNY Onondaga CC in Syracuse, NY.
