SYRACUSE, NY – An early deficit proved too much for Lackawanna College men's wrestling to overcome, as the Falcons fell to SUNY Onondaga CC in non-region wrestling action, 30-23, on Saturday morning at Onondaga in New York.
 
The Falcons (2-5) were down 12-0 through the first three bouts, as the Lazers (1-2) took the early lead. Matt Gashi-Brito (Fairfax, VA) picked up a victory by fall in the final seconds of the first period at 149 lbs. to get the Falcons on the board, but Onondaga made it 18-6 after 157 lbs. with a big pin fall pickup at the halfway mark of the dual.
 
Richard Leslie (Peckville, PA) won his bout in just 32 seconds with a pain at 165 lbs., and then a forfeit victory at 174 lbs. tied the dual at 18-18 with three bouts remaining.
 
A quick pin for Onondaga at 184 made it 24-18, and the Lazers clinched the dual with a late pin at 6:29 in the bout at 197 lbs. to go ahead 30-18.
 
Brodie Daugherty (Manheim, PA) remained unbeaten at 285 lbs., defeating his opponent with a 17-1 technical fall at 6:29 to round out the results.
 
The Falcons will now get a bit of a break through the holidays before coming back to action on Saturday, January 24^th, 2026, with an appearance at the Jamestown Jayhawk Open at SUNY Jamestown CC in New York.
 
The women's team ended up wrestling three exhibition matches, with Mary Henry (Gillett, PA) picking up a win by pin late in her bout at 138 lbs. for the lone victory.
 
The women's team will be off until an appearance at the Alfred State Open on Sunday, January 11^th, 2026, at Alfred State in New York.
