SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's wrestling team won the first six bouts to build a big lead, and the Falcons defeated Bergen CC, 34-15, on Friday night in a Region XIX bout for the Falcons inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
 
The Falcons (1-1), a night after dropping the season-opener to the University of Scranton, wasted absolutely no time in building a lead against the Bulldogs (0-1). Spencer Crawley (Bloomfield, NJ) won his bout at 125 lbs. via tech fall at 15-0, then Sam Vissers (Laurel, MD) dominated in a 19-3 tech fall victory at 133 to put the Falcons up 10-0 after just the first two bouts.
 
A forfeit at 141 made it 16-0, Falcons, and then Matt Gashi-Brito (Fairfax, VA) earned a fall just 27 seconds into his bout at 149 to make it 22-0, Lackawanna after the first four matches.
 
At 157, Luke Evans (Clarks Summit, PA) eked out an 11-10 decision, rallying late to knock off his opponent from Bergen. Richard Leslie (Peckville, PA) won another tight decision, 8-6, making it 28-0, Falcons, after the first six bouts on the night.
 
Bergen earned three straight wins through 174, 184, and 197 to get within 28-15, but Brodie Daugherty (Manheim, PA), fresh off playing a football game 24 hours before, dominated in the heavyweight bout, defeating his opponent by fall at 2:03 to make it 34-15, ending the dual on a big note for the Falcons.
 
The Falcons were 0-3 in the exhibition bouts, dropping one via tech fall and the other two via regular fall.
 
Lackawanna College will get back to action in two weeks, when the Falcons are scheduled to travel to take on Kean University in a dual. They're set for a 7:00pm ET start in Union, NJ on Friday, November 21^st.
