SCRANTON, Pa. -- For the second time in the spring 2024 season, a Lackawanna College baseball student-athlete has been named Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week, as
Jake Kelleher (First Year; Exeter, PA) was recognized for his outstanding play last week.Â
Kelleher was named alongside Delaware Tech CC softball's Makenzie Whaley in a release from the conference on Monday afternoon,
HERE. He was also already named as the
Lacakwanna College Athlete of the Week.
Jake Kelleher went 8-for-12 (.667 BA) in four games last week, driving in 16 RBI, scoring six runs, and hitting five extra-base hits, including two grand slams. Kelleher put together a 2.074 OPS (.667 OBP + 1.417 SLG) last week, getting three multi-hit games in four appearances. Kelleher was 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam home run against Raritan Valley Community College, driving in four RBI and scoring two runs of his own. He was 1-for-4 with two RBI against Mercer County Community College. Kelleher went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI, thanks to two doubles, in a 23-12 win over Montgomery College (MD). He followed that with a pinch-hit home run in game two, his second grand slam of the week, to help boost the Falcons to a 22-12 victory over the Raptors. Kelleher is up to .388 on the year, fourth on the team, with 26 hits and 19 runs scored so far this season, entering the week. The main catcher for the Falcons has eight doubles and two homers, both grand slams, for 19 RBI. He's also drawn ten walks and only struck out five times this year. Kelleher has caught six runners stealing so far this season.
Kelleher is the second baseball player, alongside
Louis Kegerreis (Redshirt First Year; Murrysville, PA), and fourth spring sports student-athlete overall to be named as an EPAC POTW this Spring.Â
The Falcons, after a Tuesday, April 16th doubleheader at Monroe CC, are back to action on Friday, April 19th, when they are set to host the Skylanders of Sussex County CC for a single nine-inning contest in Region XIX DII play. First pitch is at 3:00pm ET at Scranton HS Baseball Field.
