SCRANTON, Pa. -- Congratulations to first year baseball student-athlete JAKE KELLEHER (Exeter, PA), the twenty-sixth Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2023-2024 scholastic year!  

Jake had a break out week for the Falcons, going an impressive 8-for-12 (.667 BA) in four games last week, driving in 16 runs, scoring six runs, and hitting five extra-base hits, including two grand slams. Kelleher put together a 2.074 OPS (.667 OBP + 1.417 SLG) last week, getting three multi-hit games in four appearances. Kelleher was 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam homerun against Raritan last Monday, driving in four RBI and scoring two runs of his own. He was 1-for-4 with two doubles against Mercer on Friday, then went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI, thanks to two doubles, in a 23-12 win over Montgomery College (MD) on Sunday. He followed that with a pinch-hit homerun in game two, his second grand slam of the week, to help boost the Falcons to a 22-12 victory. Kelleher is up to .388 on the year, fourth on the team, with 26 hits and 19 runs scored so far this season. The main catcher for the Falcons has eight doubles and two homers, both grand slams, for 19 RBI, entering the week. He's also drawn ten walks and only struck out five times this year. Kelleher has caught six runners stealing so far this season.

Kelleher is a first year student-athlete at Lackawanna College, and is a Sports Management major. He will be a guest on a future episode of Falcons Corner, which airs every week on the Lackawanna College Athletics YouTube.
