BEL AIR, Md. – Lackawanna College surrendered 17 walks and the host squad from Harford CC was more than happy to take advantage, as the Fighting Owls won going away, 16-4, in seven innings over the Falcons on Saturday afternoon in Maryland.
Â
The Falcons (10-15) held a 4-2 advantage after the top of the third inning, thanks to three-runs in the second and a solo homerun from
David Baltrusaitis (Sophomore; Tunkhannock, PA) in the third. But, the Owls (25-8) hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to tie the game, hit a solo homer to start the fourth, and ended up scoring seven runs on three hits and eight walks in the bottom half to blow the game wide open.
Â
Lackawanna never really had much to write home about after that. The Falcons had the bases loaded in the sixth, down 13-4, with one out, but stranded the runners on a strikeout, followed by a ground out. Harford went ahead 16-4 in the bottom of the sixth, forcing the Falcons to need to score in the seventh to keep things alive, but three-straight strikeouts ended the game early and sent Lackawanna to its second straight loss.
Â
Lackawanna managed just five hits all-together. Baltrusaitis went 1-for-2 with the homer, while
Jake Kelleher (First Year; Exeter, PA) was 1-for-2 with a run scored, and
Brayden D'Amico (Sophomore; Bethlehem, PA) was 1-for-2 with a run driven in.
Nicholas Biasi (First Year; Hazle Township, PA) was tagged with the loss, giving up ten runs on seven hits and nine walks in 3.1 innings pitched.
Â
Lackawanna will get back to work on Tuesday, April 2
nd, when the Falcons travel to take on Montgomery County CC in a single, nine-inning contest. First pitch is at 3:30pm ET in Blue Bell, PA.
