MARTINSVILLE, Va. --Â A five-run third inning made the difference, as Lackawanna College softball defeated SUNY Corning CC 10-2 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at the Juco Jamboree in Martinsville, VA.

The Falcons (2-1) led 3-1 heading into the third inning, when they put up a five-spot to blow things wide open.
Allyson Lemerise (Sophomore; Catonsville, MD) got the scoring going with an RBI double to left, then an infield single by
Kizbelth Ortiz (First Year; New Britain, CT) scored a pair of runs to make it 6-1. After another run crossed on a ground out,
Madison Maloney (Sophomore; Scranton, PA) hit an RBI single to score Ortiz and make it 8-1, Falcons.

Corning (1-4) got a run back in the top of the fifth to stave off the end of the game at 9-2, but the Falcons scored the tenth run in the bottom frame to end the game early via the run-rule.
Aria Reyes (Sophomore; Allentown, PA) picked up the win, her second this season, allowing two runs, one earned, and striking out four in five innings of work.

The Falcons pounded out 12 hits, including three doubles, and scored at least a run in every inning. Maloney was a perfect 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while
Paige Pieper (First Year; Middleton, ID) was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI, both coming on a two-run single in the first inning. Lemerise finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, while
Jillian Heimberger (First Year; Unionville, PA) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Lackawanna is back in action on Sunday, February 25
th, in its final day of work at the Juco Jamboree. The Falcons have a pair of games on the docket, with another match-up with CCBC Catonsville at 12:00pm ET, followed by a game against WVU Potomac State at 2:15pm ET.
