WEST WINDSOR TWP., NJ – An individual milestone that hasn't happened in eight years was to be the lone bright spot for Lackawanna College men's basketball, as the Falcons dropped their eighth straight game, an 81-73 setback on the road at Mercer County CC on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Falcons (8-18, 4-8) took an early 2-0 lead, but that would be all for advantages, as Mercer (13-11, 6-5) quickly took the lead back and, despite the Falcons getting the game within one a few times early in the first half, the Vikings never gave the lead back.
Â
Aamir Mack (Sophomore; Atlantic City, NJ) etched his name in Lackawanna College men's basketball history with 6:14 to go in the first half. Mack rebounded an off-balance shot from the corner and powered the ball back up for a put-back lay-up. That lay-up served as his 1,000
th career point in a Lackawanna College uniform, marking the first time since 2016 that the Falcons have had a 1,000 point scorer. Mack finished with 26 points and ten rebounds, giving him a total of 1,022 points in his Lackawanna career. Mack is the 12
th player, ever, in Lackawanna men's basketball history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark.
Joey Chapman (Sophomore; Reading, PA) had 14 points and four assists.
Â
The Vikings of Mercer were led Isham McClaine's 20 points, while Isaiah Johnson scored 16.
Â
The loss marks the eighth-straight loss for Lackawanna, and tenth in its final eleven games, as the Falcons close their 2023-2024 campaign. A win, coupled with some other favorable results in the coming days, would have been the only way for the Falcons to qualify for the Region XIX Division II playoffs.
