SCRANTON, Pa. -- As we approach the end of 2024, Lackawanna College Athletics is reflecting on the top moments from the 2024 athletics calendar, and revealing them one day at a time between now and the new year!

#7: Bikrom Chanda's Unbeaten Runs And Rainbow Six's East Championship
The Esports squad had a big year in 2024, joining a new conference to participate in and expanding to a few more games on the varsity level.
At the beginning of the fall 2024 semester, the Esports squad joined the National Esports Collegiate Conference, a country-wide grouping of schools that pairs the Falcons with some elite competition, from local rivals like Wilkes, Marywood, King's College, and Misericordia, to national powers like Florida, Army, and plenty of other NCAA Division I programs. The Falcons competed in 4v4 Crews competition in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Rainbow Six Siege, and Rocket League this past year, and accounted for themselves quite well, competing with some of the country's best in each title.
That success in the new conference translated to some great success at the NJCAAE once again, as Lackawanna competed in seven different titles and went on to play for championships in nearly every one.
The biggest successes came in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Rainbow Six Siege, where Lackawanna was a cut above its competition for most of the year. In both Spring 2024 and Fall 2024, SSBU competitor
Bikrom Chanda (Gamertag: BASH) was excellent through the regular season, going a combined 28-0 across both semesters. In the Spring, Bash's dominance won him the East Group 2 Division and earned him a #3 seed in the NJCAAE Premier Series East Playoffs. Bash won his first-round match-up, but dropped his second-round contest and fell in the elimination bracket. That fueled Bash's fire in the fall semester competition. He went unbeaten at 14-0 again in the regular season, earned the top-seed in the PS East Playoffs, then went on a tear through the playoffs, which included defeating his teammate
Troy Torres (Gamertag: Surf) in the East Winner's Bracket Final, punching his ticket to the championship round. Bash faced off against Yashi from Lorain County CC in the championship match, clinching a top-three seed in the NJCAAE tournament and securing the East Division championship himself. Bash was upset early in the double-elimination tournament on the national level, but captured a hard-earned Eastern title for the Esports squad.
In Rainbow Six Siege, the Falcons were expected to be among the top teams in the NJCAAE, and that's exactly how things played out in the East. The Falcons were unchallenged through the regular season, posting a perfect 7-0 record in their division and earning the top-seed in the NJCAAE Premier Series East Playoffs. The Falcons had no issue with Terra State in their first round victory, then survived a five-round thriller against Northern Virginia CC to take the PS East Championship and clinch a spot in the national tournament. Lackawanna dropped its national tournament game against Guilford Tech CC, something the Falcons are hoping will motivate them in the spring 2025 semester.
Apart from those standout performances, the Falcons also competed for championships in EA FC 25, as well as Rocket League, Streetfighter, and Hearthstone. It was another successful year for the Lackawanna College Esports Falcons.
