MBB: Red-Hot Mack Helps Lackawanna Scorch Delaware Tech

The Falcons Shot 60% From The Floor And Aamir Mack Scored A Career-High 40 Points To Give The Falcons A Region XIX Win

1/27/24

SCRANTON, Pa. – Paced by a career-best game from Aamir Mack, Lackawanna College men's basketball scorched the nets for a 95-74 victory over Delaware Tech CC on Saturday afternoon in Region XIX Division II action at the Lackawanna College Student Union.

The Falcons (8-10, 4-4) shot a blistering 60.3% for the game, which included a second half where they hit for 72.4% from the floor and scored 52 points, on their way to the win. Mack (Sophomore; Atlantic City, NJ) scored a career-high 40 points on 17-for-22 shooting to lead all scorers, and the Falcons also got a career-high 17 points off the bench from Na'Shawn Jones (Sophomore; Paterson, NJ).

Leading by 12 just over 90 seconds into the second half, Lackawanna had a five-minute stretch where they could do no wrong, forcing turnovers and converting on the other end, going on an 18-0 run, highlighted by several emphatic slams from Mack. That run gave Lackawanna a 30-point cushion at 67-37 with over 13 minutes to go, and helped the Falcons coast to the win.

Delaware Tech (4-16, 0-7) battled and got the game within 15 with five to go, but it wouldn't be enough. Keyon Scott scored 16 points for the visitors, while Jordan Moore added 12 points and Destin Gallop scored eleven off the bench.

Lackawanna gets back to work on Tuesday, January 30th, when the Falcons travel to Essex County College for a key Region XIX Division II men's contest. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm ET in Newark, NJ. The Falcons defeated Essex 79-71 in Scranton back in December.
