SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College wrestling had one of the most successful days in the program's short history, achieving a program-record three first place finishers at the NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Championships on Saturday afternoon inside the Lackawanna College Student Union.
 
The Falcons, who finished second overall in the team standings, had the most champions of any team at the eleven team tournament. Kordell Waiters (Macungie, PA) at 141, Rei Yonamine (Scranton, PA) at 149, and Dylan Hogan (Bushkill, PA) at 165 are the Lackawanna champions, while heavyweight Shannon Core (Scranton, PA), 174-pounder Simeon Hunte (Burlington Twp, NJ), and 157-pounder Evan Raposo (East Stroudsburg, PA) all qualified for the national tournament, as well, bringing the Falcon total to six national qualifiers for the NJCAA Wrestling Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 3^rd and 4^th.
 
A total of 46 wrestlers qualified for the national tournament, with 39 automatic qualifiers and nine wild card picks, decided on by the coaches at the tournament.
 
Camden County College placed more wrestlers in the medal rounds, coming away with the team championship with 128.5 total points. Lackawanna was second with 92.5 team points, while Bergen CC finished third with 70.5 team points.
