NORTH EAST, Md. --Â The Falcons bounced off the mat and had the Eagles reeling early in the second half, but it was the hometown squad that put Lackawanna away.
Â
Cecil College held Lackawanna scoreless for a killer four-minute stretch in the second half, extending a slim lead out to double-digits, and the Eagles cruised the rest of the way for the 77-58 win over the Falcons on Thursday evening at Cecil.
Â
Lackawanna (2-2) shot just 31% from the field in the first half and had 15 turnovers at the break, but was still down just eight points to Cecil College (2-2), before closing the gap to just three, thanks to an
Aamir Mack (Sophomore; Atlantic City, NJ) lay-up at the 15:43 mark in the second half. Lackawanna trailed 40-37 at that point, but Cecil held the Falcons scoreless over the next four minutes of game time, while expanding its own lead slowly back out to double-digits at 50-37. By the time Lackawanna hit a shot, the Eagles were already rolling, on their way to shooting 48.5% in the second half, and 46% for the game.
Â
Mack was the only Falcon in double-figures, leading everybody with a game-high 28 points and seven rebounds.
Pablo Avalos Ortiz (Sophomore; Málaga, Spain) added seven points and six boards, while
Joey Chapman (Sophomore; Reading, PA) had eight points and three rebounds. The Falcons had 25 turnovers for the game, hit just two three-point shots, and shot 34% for the contest.
