The Falcons Fought Hard, But It Wasn't Enough To Overcome The Chargers From New haven University

10/5/23

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Rocket League squad fell in a tight 3-2 (0-6, 3-1, 2-7, 3-1, 4-2) contest to New Haven University in NACE competition on Thursday evening.

The Falcons (3-3, 1-3) were feast or famine throughout the match when it came to goals, scoring 13 goals in the two games they won, while only putting up a combined four in the three games they dropped. Matthew Kelly (Gamertag: JKfoshizzle) had four goals and a team-high eleven assists, while Guadalupe Oca (Gamertag: AyeOca) led the way with eight goals and four assists. Jacob Seamans (Gamertag: Jakob) had five goals and one assist on the night.

Lackawanna won game one 6-0, then took game three 7-2 to go up 2-1 in the match. The Falcons outshot the Chargers 11-to-8 in the fourth game, but could only muster the one goal, while New Haven scored three to force a fifth and deciding game. Lackawanna got a pair of goals from Oca in the fifth game, but it wasn't enough, as the Chargers from New Haven got the four they needed to secure the win.

Rocket League returns to action on Friday, October 6th, when the Falcons jump back into NJCAAE play against Shelton State CC. That match is set for a 6:00pm ET start and will be streamed via twitch.tv/lackawannaedu.
