BSB: Busy Weekend Awaits Lackawanna College

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College baseball team will hope the weather holds off for a bit and finally gives them solid weather this weekend, when they play three straight days of doubleheaders. It all starts on Friday, April 22nd, when the Falcons host the UConn Avery Point Pointers in doubleheader action at Scranton HS. Then, on Saturday, April 23rd, the Falcons will welcome NJCAA Division I opponent Monroe College back to Scranton for a doubleheader at Scranton HS. Finally, on Sunday, April 24th, the Falcons are scheduled to travel to Sussex County CC for an important Region XIX contest in New Jersey.
 
The Falcons played Avery Point last weekend, dropping a doubleheader on the road to the Pointers in Connecticut. You can read the recap from that doubleheader HERE. Lackawanna also dropped a pair of games to the Mustangs from Monroe back on March 22nd in what was their home opener at Scranton HS this year. You can read the recap from that doubleheader HERE.
 
The doubleheader on Friday is set for a 1:00pm ET game one start, and game two will follow around 3:30pm ET. On Saturday, the first game will start around 2:00pm ET, while game two will follow around 4:30pm ET. Both games will be streamed live on the Lackawanna College Athletics YouTube Channel at www.lackawannafalcons.com/YouTube.
 
The Sunday doubleheader at Sussex will start with game one at 12:00pm ET, with the second game to follow soon after at 2:30pm ET. Both games will be streamed live via the Sussex County CC Athletics YouTube Channel, which you can access via the link HERE.
 
About The Falcons
The Falcons (16-10, 6-0), had a mixed bag of results from this past weekend, dropping a doubleheader on the road against UConn Avery Point on Friday, then tying Del Tech at 1-1 in the fifth inning before the rain halted the doubleheader in progress, before they finally got a win, picking up a nine-inning victory over the Misericordia JV team in their last contest, 10-2.
 
Lackawanna is hitting, as a team, .361 so far this season, with a combined 1.035 OPS. They have 98 extra base hits, including 54 doubles and 29 homeruns already this season. They're slugging .586 as a team, and have stolen 72 bases so far this year. The Falcons have a .449 OBP on the year, and are averaging just shy of nine runs per contest this season.
 
On the mound, the Falcons are holding their opponents to a .249 batting average, and have a staff ERA of 5.46 this year. In 168 combined innings, the Falcons have given up 165 hits and 118 runs, 102 earned, while striking out 204 batters and walking 96. The Falcons have picked off six base runners so far this season, and have turned six double plays, while committing 38 errors as a team so far this year.
 
Quinn Hanafin is the team leader in batting average, hitting .528 so far this season in his 23 appearances. Hanafin has a 1.387 OPS, and is first on the Falcons with 38 hits on the year. Hanafin leads the Falcons with ten doubles so far this season, and he has 14 total extra base hits. He's first on the Falcons with 30 RBIs, and is second on the team in total bases, with 59. His .819 slugging is second on the team, among players who have played in 15 or more games. Quinn also has a .568 OBP, first on the Falcons for the year. Hanafin has eleven multi-hit games so far this year, and has recorded a hit in 20 of his 23 appearances so far this year. Hanafin was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles in the win over Misericordia on Monday.  Quinn was a combined 3-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and a double in two games against Monroe, and he went 2-for-5 in his two games against UCAP.
 
Cody Fleischer has a .468 batting average so far this year, and is second on the team with a 1.372 OPS. Fleischer is second on the team with 36 hits so far this season, and leads the Falcons with 37 runs scored on the year. Fleischer's 26 RBI are second on the team, and he's got 14 extra base hits on the season, including five homers, tied for first on the team. Fleischer's .554 OBP is second among players who've played in 16 or more games for the Falcons, and he leads the team with 14 walks this year, while also pilfering six bases on the year. Fleischer was impressive in his two games against Lehigh Carbon, going a combined 4-for-6 with five RBIS and five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, and a three-run homer. Fleischer has 12 multi-hit games on the year. He did not play against Misericordia on Monday afternoon. Fleischer was a combined 4-for-6 with two RBI, three runs, and a triple against Monroe, and went 1-for-6 with two RBI, a run scored, and a solo homerun in the two games against UConn Avery Point.
 
Leadoff hitter Daniel Helfgott is hitting .385 on the year, and is fourth on the Falcons with 20 hits so far this season. Helfgott has scored 13 runs on the year, and has an OBP of .441. Helfgott has seven multi-hit games so far this season, and was 2-for-3 with a two RBI, both coming on a single, against Misericordia. Helfgott was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, along with a double, in one game against Monroe earlier this year. He was a combined 1-for-5 with an RBI in the two games against UCAP.
 
George Castro is hitting .250 on the year, has a .908 OPS, and is slugging at .558 on the year. Castro has 13 RBIs this season, and is second on the team with four homeruns this season. Castro has five steals on the year, and has scored 12 runs for the Falcons. George has two multi-hit games this year, and was 0-for-3 with a run scored against Misericordia. Castro was a combined 2-for-6 with three RBI, a run scored, and a homerun in two games against Monroe, while he was a combined 0-for-4 against Avery Point last week.
 
Eli Riley, in 15 games of work for the Falcons, is hitting .404 on the year, and has a 1.185 OPS. Riley has 19 hits, good for fifth on the squad, and 21 runs scored, ranking him second on the team. Riley has a .660 slugging percentage, and has seven extra base hits on the year. He also has eight stolen bases, second on the team. Riley is tied for fourth on the team with 15 RBIs so far this year, and has 31 total bases. Riley has five multi-hit games this year, but was held to 0-for-3 against Misericordia on Monday.  Riley was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in one game against Monroe this year, and was 0-for-3 in one game against UConn Avery Point last week.
 
Daniel Keenan is hitting .343 so far this year in his 20 appearances, with a .905 OPS. Keenan has 37 total bases, good for third on the team, and has driven in 18 RBIs, placing him third on the team. Keenan has eight extra base knocks, including four doubles, two triples, and two homers. He's scored 16 runs, and is third on the team with 23 total hits this year. Keenan has eight multi-hit games on the year, and was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored in the win over Misericordia. Keenan was 2-for-5 with an RBI in one game against Monroe College, and was a combined 0-for-5 in two games against UConn Avery Point.
 
Zachary Walsh is hitting .414 so far this season in his 15 appearances, with an OPS of 1.347. Walsh has 12 hits in 29 at-bats, with six extra base hits, including three homers, and has driven in 15 runs so far this season. Walsh is slugging at .862 on the year, and has also stolen six bases this season. Walsh has four multi-hit games this year, and was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the win over Misericordia on Monday. Walsh was 0-for-1 in one game against Monroe, and was a combined 0-for-2 with two runs scored against UCAP last weekend.
 
Aiden Starn leads the team in innings pitched at 24 so far this year. Starn is 1-2 in five starts, giving up 29 hits and 22 runs, 16 earned, while striking out 22 batters. He has a 6.00 ERA on the year, and opponents are hitting .274 against him. Starn lost in his last appearance, a 4-1 defeat to UConn Avery Point. Starn had a strong outing, despite the loss, going six innings and striking out a season-high ten batters, while giving up four runs and five hits against the Pointers.  Starn appeared against Monroe, but didn't get a decision against the Mustangs, going three innings and giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out three, in a game the Falcons would lose 11-9 in extras.
 
Kyle Scott has pitched 15 innings so far this year, holding a 1.80 ERA and a 2-0 record in four appearances, three starts. Scott has struck out 28 batters, and has allowed eight hits and three runs in his action. Scott's last appearance was the start, and win, over Morris, where he went a complete seven innings, giving up just one hit, a homerun, while striking out a season best 14 batters in a 12-1 win for the Falcons. Technically, his last appearance was a start against Delaware Tech, where he gave up one run through four innings, while striking out ten batters, before that game was halted due to weather, so the stats are not official or reflected in his season totals.
 
Marc DeNunzio has pitched in 17.1 innings this season, holding an 8.83 ERA and a 2-1 record. DeNunzio has seven appearances, the most on the team, with three starts, and has given up 17 runs and 24 hits, while striking out 30 batters, good for first on the team. DeNunzio pitched three innings of relief in his last appearance, striking out six and walking four against Misericordia.  DeNunzio started against Monroe earlier this year, getting tagged with a loss, as he went two innings, giving up eight runs on eight hits to the Mustangs.
 
Jason Carpenter has pitched 16.2 innings so far this season. Carpenter has given up 20 hits and 16 runs, 13 earned, while striking out twelve batters on the year, and has an ERA at 7.02. He's 0-3 in his five appearances. Carp went 3.1 innings against UConn Avery Point in his last start, a 4-1 loss, where he went 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on two hits, while striking out two and walking four.  
 
Samuel Daniels has been great for the Falcons this year, appearing five times, once as a starter, and allowing just five hits and a pair of runs in 11.2 innings of work, all while striking out 18 batters, third on the team. Daniels has a 1.54 ERA so far this season, and is 2-0. Opponents are hitting just .116 on the year against Daniels, who pitched two innings of relief against Lehigh Carbon on Wednesday, giving up just one hit and striking out a pair. 
 
Dan Petrouskie has pitched 12.2 combined innings on the season, appearing in six games, two starts, and going 2-0 with a 9.24 ERA. Petrouskie has allowed 16 runs, 13 earned, and 20 hits, while striking out 15 batters. Opponents are hitting .339 from against Petrouskie on the year. Dan pitched 2.2 innings against UConn Avery Point in relief of Starn, giving up a run on three hits, while striking out a pair. Petrouskie also pitched three innings of relief against Monroe, earlier this year, giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out four.
 
Matthew Stam has pitched eleven innings in his five appearances so far this year, giving up eight hits and five runs, all earned, while striking out twelve batters. Stam has a 4.09 ERA, and opponents are hitting just .216 against him so far this year. Stam got a win earlier this year, going four innings in relief against PSU New Kensington, allowing just three hits and striking out five batters. Stam pitched an inning of relief at the end of the game against Misericordia, giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out a pair. Stam pitched two innings of relief against Monroe, giving up a run on two hits, while striking out one and walking three.
 
Coach Mike McCarry enters his fourth season at the helm for Lackawanna College. McCarry has helped elevate the Falcon program in his short time, guiding Lackawanna to a pair of NJCAA World Series appearances in his first three seasons, one of which was shortened and ultimately cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Before his time at Lackawanna, McCarry was the pitching coach at Stephen F. Austin and LaSalle Universities. As a pitching coach with both schools, he had multiple pitchers sign professional contracts, and, especially in his time at LaSalle, McCarry brought four NJCAA All-Americans to be a part of the Explorer program. Before that, McCarry spent his time in baseball in the Philadelphia Suburbs in Bucks County with Central Bucks West and the Colts Collegiate Summer Team. McCarry is a Keystone College graduate, where he played baseball for Jamie Shevchik and the vaunted Giants program. McCarry is 94-44 in his career at Lackawanna College.   
 
About UConn Avery Point
The Pointers are 17-7-1 so far this season, and having won six in a row, and ten of their last eleven games. In that run, the Pointers have scored double-digit runs in six games, including their last two games against Holyoke CC and CC of Rhode Island. In their last game against CCRI, UCAP overcame a 3-1 deficit heading into bottom of the fourth inning, scoring nine runs to turn the game on its head, as the Pointers went on to win 13-3 in seven innings.   
 
UCAP is hitting .293 as a team so far this season, averaging just shy of eight runs per game. The Pointers have a collective OPS of .810, and have hit 51 extra base hits this year, including 36 doubles and twelve homeruns. UCAP has drawn 11 walks, and struck out 135 times, and they also have 52 successful steals on the season. The Pointers are slugging at .405, as a team.
 
The Pointers have a team ERA of 4.73 so far this season, giving up 117 runs, 84 earned, on 142 hits in 160 innings of work this year. They've struck their opponents out 182 times this year, averaging just over ten strikeouts per nine innings pitched. The Pointers have held their opponents to three or fewer runs in ten games this year, and have turned three double plays this year, while committing 41 errors in 25 games.
 
Dominic Morabito is the team-leader with 29 total hits this season, to go with his .387 batting average, also tops on the Pointers. Morabito has a .530 OBP, tops on the squad, and an OPS around 1.050. Morabito has a team-high ten doubles, and has scored a team-leading 28 runs, while driving in nine runs. He's drawn 15 walks, second on UCAP, and has twelve stolen bases, the most on the squad. Morabito has eight multi-hit games this year, and was a combined 1-for-6 with two runs and an RBI in two games against Lackawanna, and was 1-for-3 with two runs scored in the win over CCRI on Tuesday.  
 
Tyler Rice is second on the Pointers, hitting .381 so far this year. Rice has 24 total hits, third on the team, and is has scored 21 runs scored on the year. Rice has nine extra base hits, second on the team, six of which have been doubles, and he has three homeruns. Rice's 18 RBI rank fourth on the team, and his .619 slugging is tops on the squad. Rice has an OPS of 1.085 on the year. Rice has seven multi-hit games, including his last game, where he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a homer against CCRI. Rice was a combined 0-for-5 with a run scored against Lackawanna College last weekend.  
 
Zachary Mascaro is hitting .329 so far this season, and is second on the team with 25 total hits. Mascaro has 25 runs scored on the year, also good for second, and leads the Pointers with 26 RBI on the year. He leads the team with 17 walks this year, and has six extra base hits this year. Mascaro has six multi-hit games this year, and was very effective against Lackawanna College, going a combined 5-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in two games against the Falcons. Mascaro was 1-for-2 with three runs scored, a double, and an RBI in the win over CCRI.  
 
Malcom Mention is hitting .311 on the year, and has also scored 19 runs this season. His 19 hits have him ranked fifth on the Pointers squad, and he's one of three UCAP players with a triple so far this year. Mention is tied with Rice for third on the team with seven stolen bases this year. Mention has five multi-hit games this year, and went 1-for-3 with a run scored against Lackawanna in one game last week. Mention did not play against CCRI.  
 
Andrew Lozier is hitting .267 in his 17 games this year, and leads the Pointers in homeruns with four dingers on the year. Lozier has 22 RBI, second on the team, and is slugging at .600 this year, also second on the Pointers. Lozier has twelve hits, seven of which have been extra base hits, and has an OPS of 1.004. Lozier has three multi-hit games this year, but was a combined 0-for-4 in the two games against Lackawanna College. Lozier has not played in the last two games for UCAP.  
 
Alex Mach has appeared in five games, all starts, going 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA so far this season. In 26.1 innings pitched, Mach has given up 14 runs, ten earned, on 18 hits, while striking out 33 batters, second on the team. Mach averages just over eleven strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Mach got the win in his last start, a 4-3 win over Lackawanna College. Mach went six innings, giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking five.
 
Keegan Daigle has made five starts in six appearances, going 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA. In his 25.2 innings pitched, Daigle has given up just seven runs on 18 hits, striking out a team-high 37 batters in the process. Daigle is averaging just shy of 13 K's per nine innings pitched, and has walked just four batters this season. Daigle pitched a gem in his last game, a 4-1 victory over Lackawanna College. Daigle went seven innings, giving up just one run on four hits, while striking out a season-high 14 batters.
 
Cole Forcellina has made four starts in five appearances, going 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA. He's pitched 25.2 innings, the most on the team, and has given up 19 runs, nine earned, on 20 hits, while striking out 27 batters, tied for the team lead. Forcellina was the starter, and, subsequently, the winner, against Holyoke back on April 13th, going four innings and giving up five runs on six hits, while striking out four batters.
 
Tiernan Powers has appeared and started in five games this season, going 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA on the year. Powers, in 24 innings of work, has given up 17 runs, nine earned, on 16 hits, while striking out 21 batters. Powers had a strong outing in his last appearance, a seven inning start against Massasoit on April 12th, where he gave up just one run on three hits, while striking out six batters. Powers has won his last two starts, where he's given up just one run, apiece, going seven innings both times, and striking out a combined 14 batters.
 
The head coach for UConn Avery Point is Ian Ratchford, now into his third year with the Pointers. Ratchford came to the Pointers after a year as an assistant at the University of Bridgeport in the NCAA Division II. He also spent three years at Western Connecticut State, and with the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, along with the Front Royal Cardinals of the Valley Baseball League. Ratchford is a former Pointer himself, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Post University. Ratchford is 25-20-1 in his career at UCAP.
 
About Monroe College

The Mustangs are 16-22 on the season so far, having won their last five games heading into the weekend. Before Monroe comes to Scranton on Saturday, they'll play a pair of games at Scotland Chapel Academy Prep School just outside of Chambersburg, PA on Friday. In their last game, the Mustangs detonated in the eighth inning against County College of Morris, breaking open a 6-6 game with eight runs, on their way to a 14-6 win. Salix Felix had six RBI on the day, hitting a three-run homer in the top of the sixth to tie the game, and then hitting a three-run double in the top of the eighth to blow the game open.
 
As a team, Monroe is hitting .255, and has a combined .744 OPS, which includes a .381 OBP. They have 79 extra base hits, which includes 53 doubles and ten homeruns on the year. They have 61 stolen bases on the season, and have struck out 247 times this year, while drawing 199 walks as a team. Monroe is averaging slightly over six runs per game this season.  
 
On the mound, the Mustangs hold a combined 6.05 ERA, holding their opponents to a combined .279 batting average. In 267.2 combined innings, the Mustangs have given up 297 hits and 247 runs, 180 earned, while striking out 295 batters so far this season. The Mustangs have held their opponents to three or less runs in eleven different games. They have 62 errors and have turned 26 double plays so far this season.
 
Dante Paolucci is hitting .321 on the season, second best on the team. He is second on the team with 35 total hits, and leads the Mustangs with a .445 OBP this season. His 26 RBIs are second on the team, and he has eight extra base hits on the year. Paolucci's .885 OPS is good for second on the team, and he's scored 21 runs on the year. Paolucci has drawn 24 walks, third on the team, so far this year. Paolucci has eight multi-hit games on the year, and was great against Lackawanna. In two games against the Falcons, Paolucci went 5-for-9 with five RBI and two runs scored. Paolucci has not played in the last two games for the Mustangs, and was 1-for-1 against SUNY Suffolk in his last game on April 16th.  
 
Andres Castro is the team-leader with a .374 batting average. Castro also leads the Mustangs in OPS (.930), total hits (40), total bases (54), and slugging (.505). Castro has scored 26 runs, good for third on the team, and has a .425 OBP, placing him second. Castro has stolen seven bases on the year, and has appeared in 31 games for the Mustangs. Castro has twelve multi-hit games this year. He was a combined 1-for-8 with four runs scored and a double against Lackawanna College in two games, and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored, and a double in the win over Morris.
 
Miguel Toribio has a .266 batting average this season, and is second on the team with 29 runs scored so far this year. Toribio's 29 hits this year have him ranked fourth on the team, and he's hit five extra base hits, while driving in 18 runs. Toribio has six multi-hit games this season, and was a combined 3-for-10 in two games against Lackawanna College, scoring four runs and hitting a double against the Falcons. Toribio was 1-for-5 with a run scored in his last game, the win over Morris.   
 
Salix Felix has a .256 batting average this season, but is the team leader in RBI (27), extra base hits (13), and homeruns (4). Felix is second on the team with 53 total bases, and his .453 slugging percentage is also second on the squad. Felix is the team leader on the basepaths, with 14 stolen bases on the year.  Felix has struck out a team-high 40 times this year. Felix has seven multi-hit games this year, and was a combined 3-for-9 in two games against Lackawanna College, scoring three runs and driving in another. He had his best game against Morris, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, hitting a three-run homerun and a three-run double.  
 
Nathaniel Alvarez is hitting .220 this season, but his .423 OBP is third on the team, and Alvarez leads the Mustangs with 30 runs scored so far this year. Alvarez has 24 total hits, including eight doubles, and has 18 RBI so far this season. His 30 walks drawn are a team-best. He's one of two players to have played in all 38 games for the Mustangs this season. Alvarez has three multi-hit games this year, but was held 0-for-2 in the two games against Lackawanna College, though he did score three runs and had an RBI. Against Morris, Alvarez was 1-for-4 with two runs scored. 
 
Andrelis Payampas has pitched the most for the Mustangs, having pitched a team-high 41.1 innings so far this season. In his nine appearances, all starts, Payampas is 2-3 with a 5.44 ERA. Payampas has allowed 41 runs on 45 hits. Just 25 runs were earned, and he's struck out a team-high 52 batters, but he also leads the team in walks surrendered with 33. Batters are hitting .273 against Payampas so far this season. Payampas didn't record a decision in his match-up with Lackawanna College earlier this year, going five innings while giving up four runs on ten hits. He was the starter in the game against Morris, going five innings while giving up six runs on five hits, while striking out and walking six, apiece.  
 
Roman Dorosh is second on the team with 38.2 innings pitched so far this season. Dorosh has made eight appearances, all starts, going 2-4 with a 6.05 ERA this year. He has given up 38 runs, 26 earned, on 43 hits, while striking out 37 batters and walking 18. Teams are averaging .279 at the plate against Dorosh on the year. Dorosh did not appear against Lackawanna College earlier this year. He won his last start, a six inning performance against SUNY Suffolk, where he gave up one run on four hits, while striking out a season-best ten batters.
 
Je-andrick Lourens is third on the team with 32 innings pitched so far this year. Lourens has made six appearances, five of them starts, and has gone 3-2 with a 6.47 ERA this year. Lourens has allowed 25 runs, 23 earned, on 34 hits, while striking out 49 batters, second on the team. Opponents are hitting .264 against Lourens on the year. Lourens pitched well against Lackawanna College, going six strong innings against the Falcons, giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out eleven batters. He's hit double-digit strikeouts in three games so far this year. In his last appearance, against SUNY Suffolk, Lourens picked up the win, going four innings, while giving up four runs on five hits, striking out seven batters in the process.
 
Grant Goodland has made eleven appearances for the Mustangs, six of them starts, and has gone 1-5 with a 6.97 ERA so far this year. In 31 innings, Goodland has given up 29 runs, 24 earned, on 41 hits, striking out 37 batters while walking 12. Opponents are hitting .323 against Goodland on the year. Goodland pitched a scoreless inning of relief against Lackawanna, giving up two hits and striking a batter out. His last appearance was a start against Mercer County CC on April 13th. Goodland got tagged with the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up four runs on six hits.
 
The head coach for Monroe College is Elliott Ayala, going into his fourth year as the head coach, and ninth overall at the school. Ayala, a Bronx native and 23rd round draft pick for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1998, spent six seasons in the Brewers organization before joining the independent ranks. Ayala went on to make a name for himself with the Somerset Patriots, winning back-to-back Atlantic League titles with the Patriots, and earning himself a spot among the all-time greats in Somerset history, named as the number nine best player in the history of Somerset. Ayala joined Monroe in January of 2013 when he became an assistant coach with the softball team, before transitioning over to assistant with the baseball squad the next year.
 
About Sussex County CC

The Skylanders (11-15, 2-4) are coming into the weekend off 13-3 loss at home against Northampton on Thursday. Before they play the Falcons on Sunday, Sussex will have a Region XIX doubleheader on Saturday, at home, against County College of Morris. In the loss to Northampton, the Skylanders held a 3-2 lead after four innings, only to see the Spartans scored seven runs over the next two innings, and then four in the ninth.
 
As a team, Sussex is hitting .263, and has a .735 OPS, which includes a .71 OBP. They have 52 extra base hits, which includes 43 doubles on the year. They have 41 stolen bases on the season, and have struck out 174 times this year, while drawing 104 walks as a team.
 
On the mound, the Skylanders hold a combined 3.89 ERA, with their opponents hitting at a combined .263 batting average. In 178 combined innings, Sussex has given up 175 hits and 152 runs, 77 earned, while striking out 167 batters so far this season. They have 52 errors and have turned one double play so far this season.
 
Logan Kobis is first on the Skylanders with a .352 batting average, and 25 total hits so far this season. Kobis has a team-high eight doubles on the season, giving him nine overall extra base hits, also first on the team. Kobis has driven in 12 runs, good for second on the team, and his .507 slugging percentage is tops on the squad. Kobis has eight multi-hit games this year, seven times in his last nine games, alone. Kobis was a combined 2-for-8 with a run scored and a pair of strikeouts in the two wins against Raritan Valley.
 
Jake Wagner has a .305 batting average this season, and is tied with Kobis for the team lead in hits with 25 on the year. Wagner leads the team in runs scored with 21 so far this season, and is also the team-leader in walks (15) and stolen bases (9). Wagner has four doubles and a homer on the year, with ten RBI on the season, good for third on the team. Wagner has four multi-hit games on the season, and was a combined 1-for-7 with two runs scored, a walk, and a pair of stolen bases against the Lions from Raritan Valley.   
 
Terryn Babcock has a .258 batting average, and is third on the team with 17 hits on the year. Babcock leads the team in RBI (17), and is tied for the team lead with two homers on the year. Babcock has scored 13 runs on the year, second on the squad, and has hit six doubles for the Skylanders. Terryn has also struck out a team-high 30 times this year. Babcock has a pair of multi-hit games so far this season, and was 0-for-3 with an RBI, a walk, and a pair of strikeouts in just one game against Raritan Valley.  
 
Hunter Rossi has a .268 average on the year, collecting 15 hits in 24 games for the Skylanders. Rossi's triple is the lone three-bagger for Sussex this year, and he's got six extra base hits for six RBI on the season. Rossi has drawn six walks on the year, and has scored eight runs for the Skylanders so far this year. Rossi has five multi-hit games on the year, going 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, and a stolen base in game one against Raritan Valley.  
 
Jake Lonsky is hitting .241 on the year for the Skylanders, collecting 14 hits, three doubles, and five RBI so far this season. Lonsky has drawn six walks so far this year, and has three stolen bases. Lonsky has three multi-hit games on the year, and was 0-for-3 with a run scored and three strikeouts in the second game against Raritan.
 
Hunter Rossi has appeared in seven games, all starts, and is 4-2 with a stellar 1.36 ERA. Rossi, in a team-high 33 innings, has given up 29 hits and 16 runs, just five earned, while striking out a team-high 43 batters. His last game was a start against Raritan in the second game, striking out a season-best eleven batters in a three-hit shutout win.
 
Jimmy PerezDePrado has started in six of his eight appearances so far this year, but somehow hasn't recorded a win or loss, with a 2.20 ERA. He's pitched 28.2 innings, giving up 19 hits and 16 runs, seven earned, while striking out 29 batters. PerezDePrado has walked a team-worst 24 batters. PerezDePrado went four innings in his last start against Raritan in the first game, giving up five runs, two earned, on six hits, and striking out three batters.  
 
Eliot Goulet has appeared in four games, three starts, and is 2-2 with a 4.67 ERA. Goulet has pitched 17.1 innings, and has given up 18 hits and 13 runs, nine earned, while striking out twelve batters. Goulet got the win in his last appearance against SUNY Rockland, going six innings in relief, and only surrendering two hits. His five strikeouts were a season-high.  
 
The main relief pitcher is Kotaro Takiguchi, who has made a team-high ten appearances, going 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA and four saves on the year. Takiguchi has pitched 11.1 innings, giving up twelve hits and ten runs, while striking out 15 batters. His longest outing was a two inning relief effort in a 5-3 win over North Central Missouri College, giving up two hits and no runs. He last pitched against Mercer County CC on April 9th, when he pitched 1.1 innings of relief, giving up four hits and three runs, while striking out one batter.  
 
The head coach for Sussex is Ramadan Mehmedi, now into his ninth season at the helm of the Skylanders. Mehmedi served as an assistant from 2010 through 2012, before taking over as head coach in the fall of 2013. Mehmedi, a Sussex grad and former baseball player for the Skylanders, went to NJCU after his time at Sussex, still playing baseball at the NCAA level. Mehmedi has an overall record of 123-170, and helped guide the Skylanders to the Region XIX playoffs last season, before falling to Lackawanna College.

The Falcons get back to action this upcoming week on Tuesday, April 27th, when they play host to their Region XIX cross-divisional rival, the Northampton CC Spartans. The single, nine-inning game will start at 3:30pm ET at Scranton High's baseball field.
