SCRANTON, Pa. -- For the first time since September, Lackawanna College will play a football game two weeks in a row, when the Falcons travel to take on the Hocking College Hawks in Nelsonville, Ohio. The game is set to kick at 12:00pm ET from Nelsonville-York HS.
Lackawanna College (5-1) is ranked #11 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I poll. The Falcons were last in action against Monroe College last weekend at home, winning 21-14 on Homecoming Weekend. The Falcons were a little rusty and penalty-prone, but the offense scored when it had to, and the defense made things stand up. Despite three first half interceptions, the defense didn't allow Monroe to capitalize. The Falcons had 11 tackles-for-loss and seven sacks, while forcing five punts and two turnover-on-downs. They also held the Mustangs to just -10 yards rushing, the second straight game in which the Falcons held an opponent to negative rushing yards. Barry Brown (Philadelphia, PA) passed for a pair of touchdowns, while Petey Tucker (Hyattsville, MD) caught three passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Terez Worthy (Salisbury, MD) ran for 114 yards on 21 carries, the second straight game in which he crossed the 100-yard barrier. Jahman McNeil (Plainfield, NJ) led the defense with seven solo tackles in his first game back from injury.
The Hawks (6-2) are the #4 team in the NJCAA DIII rankings, and are coming off one of the most important wins in the short history of the program. Last weekend, Hocking went to fellow nationally ranked DIII Nassau CC and won, 21-14, in Garden City. The score belies how bizarre the game was, with Hocking holding Nassau to four field goals and an inadvertent safety after the defense intercepted a pass in the end zone, advanced the ball out, and then went back in to down it. The Hawks threw three touchdown passes, including an 83-yarder in the second quarter, and the defense did its job, keeping the Lions out of the end zone.
Lackawanna College, in its 30th season of competition, secured its 200th win in program history with the victory over Queen City. The Falcons now have 201 program victories, and head coach
Mark Duda, the man in charge for 29 of those seasons, sits at 197 career victories, the most among active coaches in the NJCAA.
This is the sixth-ever match-up between Lackawanna College and Hocking College. The teams have played each other every season dating back to 2016, apart from the pandemic-shortened spring 2021 season. This is only the second time the Falcons have played Hocking in Nelsonville, and the first since 2018.

The Falcons will host the #6 Georgia Military College Bulldogs on Saturday, November 12th, at 1:00pm ET from PenFed Field at Scranton's Memorial Stadium. It'll be the second time the Falcons and Bulldogs have met this season. GMC won that first match-up 34-12, the only loss for Lackawanna this season.
