Pro Football Focus College released their
PFF College 50, which ranks the Top-50 Best Players in College Football, according to the website, and Lackawanna Falcons fans will recognize a familiar name.
Jaquan Brisker, the former 1
st Team All-NJCAA and Northeast Football Conference Defensive POTY in 2018 with the Falcons, was named as the 39
th best player in all of college football heading into the 2021 season.
Here's what PFF College had to say about Jaquan:
"After two years of stellar play at Lackawanna College, Brisker chose Penn State over Alabama and others in 2019. He has been one of the top safeties in the country ever since…He's rocked up and explosive and certified himself as one of the best tacklers at the position a year ago, missing just one tackle on 60 total attempts. That 1.7% missed tackle rate led all FBS safeties on the year and was the second-lowest rate we have ever seen in the PFF College era."
Brisker, ranked as the 3
rd safety on the list, had a stellar 2020 for Penn State, earning 1
st Team All-America from PFF, and honorable mention All-America by Phil Steele. Brisker also was named 1
st Team All-B1G by PFF, and earned 3
rd Team All-B1G from the coaches in the conference. Brisker, who started all nine games for Penn State last year, finished with 57 tackles (3
rd on the team) and had six pass breakups (1
st on the team, 7
th in the B1G). Brisker had a career-high 9 tackles, including 6 solo, and grabbed his first interception of the season in a 39-24 win at home vs. Michigan State. He also had a career-best 1.5 tackles for loss in the win for the Nittany Lions.
Jaquan was the team-captain for the 2018 Lackawanna Falcons, a team that went undefeated at 11-0, and won the El Toro Bowl, earning a #6 national ranking. Brisker racked up 118 tackles and 23 tackles for loss in his two years at Lackawanna, and was the #4 junior college prospect, and #1 safety, when he made his decision to go to Penn State for the 2019 season.
Brisker was the lone Nittany Lion in the
PFF College 50, which ranked Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler as the top player in all of college football.
Jaquan and Penn State kick off the 2021 season on September 4
th at Camp Randall in Madison, WI against the Wisconsin Badgers.
