HACKETTSTOWN, NJ -- The Lackawanna College Falcons wrestling team hit the mats on Sunday morning and afternoon, taking part in the 2021 edition of the Bob Quade Cyclone Open happening at Centenary University.
Competing at 149,
Dymonique Jones made her Falcon debut, wrestling in her first match of the season. Jones faced Trae McDaniel, from Army Prep, in the second round, after a first round bye. McDaniel defeated Jones by pin, 1:22 into the first round of the match. McDaniel would end up finishing first at 149. Jones, in the consolation bracket, would face Troy Occonnor from Middlesex. Occonnor would pin Jones at the 0:17 mark of the first round, finishing Jones' afternoon. Occonnor would go on to finish fourth in the competition at 149.
At 157,
Kordell Waiters took on Matt Rosa from East Stroudsburg in his first round match. Rosa pinned Waiters 50 seconds into the second round of their match-up, sending Waiters to the consolation bracket. Rosa would end up finishing second at 157. In the consolation bracket, Waiters would face Perry Maio from Centenary in his first match. Waiters would beat Maio by major decision, 20-8, to advance to the next match against Luke Ciampa from East Stroudsburg. Ciampa, who ended up finishing third, would defeat Waiters by major decision, 16-3.
In the 184-pound bracket,
Matthieu Raulerson took the mat for Lackawanna College. His first match was against James Holder from Kutztown. Holder would knock off Raulerson by pin at the 1:06 mark of the first round of the match. Holder would end up finishing third in the bracket. Raulerson would take on John Burnett from Temple in the first round of the consolation bracket. Burnett would defeat Raulerson by pin at the 0:53 mark in the first round ofthe match.
Competing in the Heavyweight bracket,
Jayden Riley won his second round match-up, after a first round bye, defeating Issa Kuhn from Hunter by pin at the 2:16 mark of the first round. In the quarterfinal round, Riley faced Dustin Swanson from Kutztown. Swanson, who ended up finishing third, defeated Riley by pin at the 1:25 mark of the first round. Riley's next match was in the consolation bracket against Rey Miller from Montclair. In a match that went all three rounds, Miller would defeat Riley by decision, 8-2.Â

The Falcons are back in action on Saturday, December 11th at the Lackawanna Student Union in their only scheduled home match of the season. Lackawanna will host Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a tri-match, scheduled to start at 4:00pm ET. It'll be the second event of the afternoon at Student Union, as the men's basketball team hosts SUNY Ulster at 1:00pm ET.
