HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Lackawanna College Women's Soccer team held a one-goal lead into the 75
th minute, but the Hawks of Hagerstown CC scored two goals within four minutes of each other to turn a tight game on its head and hand the Falcons a 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (0-5-0), thanks to goals from
Rachel Apsley and
Jada Tha in the 28
th and 35
th minutes, respectively, held a 2-1 lead into the 75
th minute of action, before the Hawks (3-6-0) found the equalizer. A few minutes later, amid more pressure, the Hawks found the breakthrough in the 79
th minute to snag a 3-2 advantage. The Falcons could never quite get a kick of the ball after that, managing just one shot the rest of the way.

The Falcons started the match quick, with three corner kicks in the first five minutes, amid some offensive possession and pressure. Both teams would settle in after that, with the Falcons ceding most of the possession to the Hawks, who poked and prodded the Falcon defense.

In the 26
th minute, the Hawks would hit the front and take a 1-0 lead. It would be a short-lived lead, as the Falcons answered in the 28
th minute, as
Rachel Apsley dribbled past two defenders and rocketed a shot over the third to beat the keeper to the upper 90 from 25 yards out to make it 1-1. It was Apsley's 2
nd goal of the season.

The Falcons kept things moving when they earned a free-kick in the 35
th minute, and
Jada Tha went for goal from 35 yards out, beating the keeper and giving Lackawanna College a 2-1 lead. It was Tha's first goal of the 2021 season.

Lackawanna College would have another opportunity in the 40
th minute when
Ashley Bruno outmaneuvered four separate Hagerstown defenders and took a low shot from ten yards out, forcing a save off the goal line from the keeper.Â

After the halftime break, the Falcons and Hawks traded possession and shots, before the pressure started to ramp up from Hagerstown, resulting in the two goals within four minutes of each other, and the eventual win.

The Falcons were outshot 32-to-16, but were slightly more accurate with 12 of their 16 shots on goal, as opposed to the Hawks' 16 of 32.
Rachel Apsley had eight shots, five on target, to lead the Falcons. With
Sophia Andreoli in the midfield,
Emily Cherubini was between the pipes and had 12 saves on the afternoon.

The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday October 6
th when they travel to take on Corning Community College. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm.
