NJCAA Updated 2020-21 Plan of Action for Athletics

Scranton, PA – Today the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released a return to play plan for the 2020-2021 sports seasons. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the NJCAA has made adjustments to the start of fall, winter and spring sports. This plan will allow Lackawanna College student-athletes to continue to compete in their respective sports and have the opportunity to participate in a championship season.

Fall sports will be moved to spring and the return to play plan allows all of the Falcons' athletic programs the ability to practice and scrimmage in the fall following the established Lackawanna College COVID-19 policies, procedures and social distancing guidelines. Lackawanna College plans to welcome its student-athletes back on campus in August.

"We are excited that the new plan allows our teams to participate in a competitive season," said Lackawanna College Athletic Director, Joya Whittington. "We realize this year will be very unorthodox, but we are committed to providing our student-athletes with the best athletic and academic experience possible."

The official plan is as follows:
