Ji'Ayir Brown named NEFC 2019 Defensive Player of the Year

Scranton, PA - The Northeast Football Conference has announced that Lackawanna College Defensive Back Ji'Ayir Brown has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year.  Brown, a sophomore from Trenton, NJ, missed the last two games of the season due to an injury, but played a major role in leading the Falcons' to a December 5th National Championship appearance against #1 Mississippi Gulf Coast.  On the year, Brown recorded 26 tackles with a 3 tackle per game average.  He also had 3 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery.  In a 30-17 win over Monroe College, Brown shut down the Mustangs' offense with 5 tackles, 1 sack and 2 interceptions.

Brown's performance has not gone un-noticed, as he will be taking his talents to State College next year to play for Coach John Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions.  In addition to his outstanding defensive performance, Brown was also the holder for NEFC First-Team All Special Teams Kicker Cam Ceccotti.
