SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College softball student-athlete
Mackenzie Adolfson (Throop, PA) was named as the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Softball Player of the Week for her scorching week in the batter's box for the Falcons, according to a release from the EPAC on Monday afternoon.
Mackenzie was red-hot at the plate this past week for Lackawanna College, hitting .562 (9-for-16) with five doubles, two homers, 11 RBIs, and 6 runs scored in six games, helping Lackawanna go 5-1. She compiled a 1.882 OPS, which includes a .632 on-base percentage and a 1.250 slugging percentage. Against Salem CC on Tuesday, Mackenzie was a combined 4-for-5 with two doubles, two homers, four runs, and five RBIs in a doubleheader sweep for the Falcons. Mackenzie hit a two-run homer in each contest, including what was the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth inning against the Oaks in game two. Against Brookdale on Thursday, Adolfson stayed hot, going 3-for-5 with two runs, five RBIs, and three more doubles to help Lackawanna sweep past the Jersey Blues in a pair of five-inning contests. She had four RBIs and two doubles in the 10-2 win in game one, then doubled again in the 12-3 win in game two. In two games against Delaware Tech, she managed a pair of hits and an RBI to help the Falcons earn a crucial split in Region XIX DII and EPAC play. Adolfson's season batting average climbed over 30 points last week, alone, up to .424 this year. Her 1.239 OPS is second on the team this year, while she has 33 runs (2nd) and 36 hits (4th). Her 14 doubles are first on the team and first in all of Region XIX. Adolfson has a .729 slugging percentage (2nd on the team) and a .510 OBP (2nd). She also has a team-high 14 walks.
Adolfson was named as the POTW as a batter. There was no winner for EPAC POTW as a pitcher.
Elsewhere, Delaware Tech CC pitcher Nick Williamson was named EPAC Pitcher Player of the Week, while Montgomery County CC's Brett Minnich was named POTW as a batter. Delaware County CC swept the other categories, as DCCC's Mason Falk and Fatumata Kaba were named as the EPAC Players of the Week in Track & Field.
Adolfson is a first-year student-athlete at Lackawanna College, and she was named as the Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week, earlier this week.
The softball Falcons are on the road on Tuesday, April 7th, with a doubleheader at Raritan Valley CC.
