MBB: Elias Three Pushes Falcons Past Thaddeus Stevens In Non-Region Victory

The Falcons Struggled In A Nip-And-Tuck Contest, But A Late Shot From Noah Elias Was The Difference Maker

1/13/26

SCRANTON, Pa. – A late three-pointer from Noah Elias with 90 seconds remaining helped secure the non-conference victory for Lackawanna College men's basketball on Tuesday night, as the Falcons downed the Bulldogs from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (9-7) were in a back-and-forth contest with the visiting Bulldogs (6-10) throughout Tuesday's game, but finally seemed in control with under six minutes to play, leading 68-60 after an offensive putback from Jaksa Pejovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) with 5:58 remaining.

Thaddeus Stevens methodically pulled back within striking distance, using the next three minutes to tie things up at 68-68 with under three to go. Pejovic, who scored all his game-high 19 points in the second half, scored off an offensive rebound to get the Falcons back up at 70-68, but Thaddeus Stevens hit the front on a long three-pointer with 2:30 to play. Pejovic scored after a nifty dish from Elias (Silver Spring, MD) to put the Falcons back in front, but an excellent spinning lay-up in the lane had Thaddeus in the lead at 73-72 with 1:48 to play.

Out of a timeout from Lackawanna College, the Falcons worked the ball around the perimeter, probing the zone defense from the Bulldogs. Latrell Mark (Frederick, MD) drew a pair of defenders near the top and swung the ball to Elias in the left corner. Elias quickly pumped a three-point attempt and it snapped the nets with 1:25 remaining to give the Falcons the lead for good at 75-73.

Pejovic scored off an assist from Mark on the next possession to make it a four-point game with under a minute to play, but a three-ball from Thaddeus with 35 seconds brought it back to a one-point deficit.

Lackawanna did what it needed to down the stretch to ice the game, hitting four free throws in a row to push themselves in front and forcing a bad attempt from the field to give Lackawanna the victory.

Thaddeus Stevens had great balance, placing five players in double-figures, with Isaiah Diggs and Willie Hashamy each scored 13 points. Kneco Hill had 12 points and five assists. The Bulldogs shot 41.4% from the floor and made eight three-pointers.

Pejovic led all scorers with his 19 second-half points and pulled down eleven rebounds for the double-double. He was one of five players from Lackawanna in double-figures. Mark had eleven points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. David Popson (Wilkes-Barre, PA) had eleven points and six boards, while Elias and Jahsan Simms (Hillside, NJ) each put up ten points. Lackawanna shot 41.7% from the floor and was 15-for-22 from the line, including 8-for-11 in the second half. The Falcons outrebounded the Bulldogs 47-33, and Lackawanna outscored the visitors 38-26 on points in the paint.

Lackawanna College gets back to action on Saturday, January 17th, with a home game against Baltimore City CC. The game is set for a 3:00pm ET start inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium. The game will be the second of a doubleheader, with the women's teams set to play first at 1:00pm ET.
