SCRANTON, Pa. --Â Lackawanna College baseball picked up its fourth Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week nomination this season, as first-year student-athleteÂ
Deacon Brown (Williamsport, PA) was named as the Baseball Player of the Week in the EPAC this past week, according to a
release from the conference on Monday morning.
Delaware Tech CC softball student-athlete Natalie Berry was named as the Softball POTWÂ for last week.
In three games last week, Deacon was a combined 8-for-13 (.615 BA) with seven runs, 12 RBIs, and four home runs, helping the Falcons go 3-0 against solid competition. Deacon put up a 2.205 OPS (.667 OBP + 1.538 SLG) in his three contests, drawing two walks in addition to his prowess at the plate. He was 3-for-5 with two runs, three RBIs, and a solo home run in the 8-0 win against D3 #1 RCSJ Gloucester this past Thursday. Against Monroe CC in Sunday's doubleheader, Deacon was a combined 5-for-8 with nine RBIs and three home runs. He was 3-for-4 with two runs and seven RBIs in game one, hitting a towering three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to cap a nine-run Falcons rally, followed by a two-run shot to the right field corner later in the game to boost the Falcons to a double-digit lead, eventually winning 13-1 in five innings. In game two, Brown was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning to right field that made it 14-2, Falcons, in a game they'd go on to win 20-13. Deacon has a .426 batting average and a 1.307 OPS this year, second on the team. His 38 runs are fifth on the Falcons, while his 49 RBIs are first on the team. He has ten homers, tied for the team-high, and his 21 walks are second on the team this season.
This is Deacon's second EPAC POTW nomination this year.
Baseball has six more regular season contests left before the postseason next weekend, and the Falcons will get back to action on Tuesday, April 29th, with a single nine-inning contest against SUNY Westchester CC. First pitch is at 3:30pm ET at Scranton HS baseball field.Â
