SCRANTON, Pa. -- For the third time in the spring 2024 season, a Lackawanna College softball student-athlete has been named Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week, as
Aria Reyes (Sophomore; Allentown, PA) was chosen as the EPAC Softball POTW on Monday afternoon.
Reyes was chosen alongside Northampton CC baseball's Gabriel Caso and Delaware County CC Track and Field's Bintu Sheriff for this week's awards, which you can see
HERE. Reyes was also named
Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week earlier on Monday.Â
Aria had an excellent week for the Falcons, going 19-for-28 (.679 BA) in 12 games for the Falcons. She was a combined 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, with a double and a triple, in a doubleheader sweep over Morris on Thursday. She had seven total RBI in a pair of wins against Raritan on Friday, and had two more RBI in a win against Northampton CC on Sunday. In the circle, Reyes allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings against Monroe for a victory, then came on in emergency relief on Saturday against Salem, allowing two runs on seven hits and three strikeouts, securing a crucial win. Because of her stellar week at the plate, Reyes's season average climbed by nearly 120 points, up to a .352 batting average this year. Reyes has 29 runs scored, and 31 total hits this year, driving in 22 RBI. She has a pair of homeruns, has drawn 13 walks, and stolen nine bases. Pitching-wise, Reyes is now 8-3 in 14 games, with a 4.16 ERA. She has given up 46 runs, 39 earned, in 65.2 innings pitched, striking out 29.
Reyes is the third softball player, alongside
Morgan McVicar (First Year; Blakely, PA) and
Madison Maloney (Sophomore; Scranton, PA), and fifth spring sports student-athlete overall to be named as an EPAC POTW this season.
The Falcons are back to work on Tuesday, April 23rd, when they are set to host the Jersey Blues from Brookdale CC. Reyes will be among the seven sophomore student-athletes honored for Sophomore Day before the doubleheader, with the ceremonies starting at 3:00pm ET, and first pitch following at 3:30pm ET at Scranton HS softball field.
