The Falcons Were Dominant From Start To Finish, Overwhelming The Hosts Behind Offensive Firepower That Couldn't Be Matched

BRANCHBURG, NJ – Lackawanna College softball completely overwhelmed Raritan Valley CC on Friday afternoon, winning a pair of games in Region XIX DII doubleheader action at Raritan by scores of 31-3 and 25-3, both in five innings.
 
The Falcons (29-12, 7-3) just didn't let up at the plate, scoring a combined 56 runs in two games, with runs being scored in nine of the ten total innings played. Lackawanna had 47 combined hits, 20 for extra bases, and drew 20 combined walks across both games.
 
In game one, Madison Maloney (Sophomore; Scranton, PA) went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI, drawing a pair of walks. Skylar Borthwick (Sophomore; Pittston, PA) was 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Jillian Heimberger (First Year; Unionville, PA) and Kizbelth Ortiz (First Year; New Britain, CT) each had four hits. Heimberger scored a team-best six runs, and Ortiz drove in three. Lackawanna scored 15 runs in the first two innings, taking advantage of three errors in the first two innings, and what would eventually be seven errors in the entire game.
 
Maloney kept it going in game two, driving in six RBI and collecting four hits, all doubles. Aria Reyes (Sophomore; Allentown, PA) hit a two-run homer and had five RBI, while Heimberger collected four more hits and three RBI, and Ortiz was 3-for-4 with four RBI.
 
The Falcons are now 7-3 in Region XIX DII play, and have won six of their last eight games. Lackawanna is back to work on Saturday, April 20th, with a doubleheader against Salem CC at home. First pitch of game one is at 12:00pm ET at Scranton HS softball field.
