WYE MILLS, Md. – Lackawanna College softball earned a pair of impressive wins on the road on Sunday afternoon, taking down Chesapeake College with wins at 8-7 and 10-8 in Maryland, pushing Lackawanna over ten wins on the season.

The Falcons (10-7) blew a 7-3 lead in game one, when Chesapeake (6-4) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the contest, but Lackawanna managed to win in extras, when a long fly ball from
Madison Maloney (Sophomore; Scranton, PA) was deep enough to bring the runner on second,
Emmalee Mowery (First Year; Mechanicsburg, PA), home to give the Falcons an 8-7 lead. In the bottom frame,
Allyson Lemerise (Sophomore; Catonsville, MD) pitched around a sac bunt to get a pop out and a swinging strikeout to close out the game one victory.

Maloney scored a run and drove in two more, going 2-for-5 on the day, while
Morgan McVicar (First Year; Blakely, PA) went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. McVicar had double and a triple on the day, and Lemerise had a three-run homerun, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Lemerise got the win, her second on the year, despite giving up seven runs, five earned, on eleven hits in eight innings of action. Lemerise managed to strike out nine batters to earn the win.

In game two, Lackawanna College was cruising, up 9-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, when Chesapeake managed to close the gap with seven runs over the last three innings. The Skipjacks even hit a one-out three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to get within 10-8, but the Falcons and starting pitcher
Aria Reyes (Sophomore; Allentown, PA) got around a double with a ground out and a line out to end the game and secure the doubleheader sweep.

Maloney was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, while McVicar was 1-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI, courtesy of a grand slam homer in the second inning.
Mazzie Musgrave (First Year; Old Forge, PA) doubled and scored a run, and Reyes got her fourth win of the year, giving up eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits in seven innings pitched.

Lackawanna College is back to action on Tuesday, March 19
th, with its home opener at Scranton HS. The Falcons are set to host Penn State Hazleton for a doubleheader, with first pitch at 3:30pm ET. It'll be the first two games of eight happening in the coming week, six of which will be home games for the Falcons.
