SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna football student-athlete
Andrew Marshall (Carroll, OH) was tabbed as this week's NJCAA Division I Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement via the NJCAA Football social media page on X/Twitter.
Marshall led the way for the defensive effort from Lackawanna, securing a team-high eight tackles, three for loss, and two sacks in the 44-13 win at home against Monroe University this past weekend. Marshall helped spearhead a defensive performance that limited Monroe to -19 yards rushing and just 129 yards of total offense. The Mustangs punted ten times, had just eight first downs (two of which came via penalty), and were 2-for-18 on third down. Marshall now leads the team with 37 total tackles, and is tied for second on the squad with 7.5 tackles-for-loss, while leading the Falcons with 4.5 sacks this season. He's in a five-way tie for ninth in the country with his 7.5 TFLs.
The #10 Falcons are off this weekend for a much-needed bye. They get back to action on Saturday, October 19th, when Lackawanna is set to host Sussex County CC at 1:00pm ET at PenFed Field at Scranton's Memorial Stadium. It'll be the second time in three weeks that the two NJCAA Region XIX foes will meet on the gridiron. It also marks Homecoming Weekend at Lackawanna College.
