BASE: 2022 Baseball Schedule Release
SCRANTON, Pa. – The 2022 Lackawanna College Baseball team's regular season schedule is here, and it features many familiar faces, including some top competition, for the Falcons.
The Falcons get started on Saturday, February 26
th, when Lackawanna takes on Chesapeake College on the road in Maryland with a doubleheader. The Skipjacks went 29-9 last season, and made it all the way to the Region XX championship game before falling to Frederick CC in the championship game.
Lackawanna will then take its talents to Florence, South Carolina to compete against a pair of national tournament contenders from last year: Florence-Darlington and Patrick & Henry CC. Florence Darlington Tech from South Carolina made the NJCAA DI World Series last year, falling in their first two games. Meanwhile, Patrick & Henry was the team that beat Lackawanna College in the first game of last year's DII World Series. The Patriots ended up making a run to the national semi-finals before falling to Western Oklahoma State. The Falcons will play those teams in back-to-back doubleheader games on both March 5
th and 6
th.
Lackawanna College will round out the rest of their southern trip with a stop in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they'll play at the Cal Ripken Experience baseball complex. The Falcons will play games against Bay College, Mid Michigan College, PSU New Kensington, Rochester Tech, Danville CC, and Henry Ford CC, before travelling back up the coast to play Harford Community College in a doubleheader in Maryland.
A week later, the Falcons begin Region XIX play with a road doubleheader at Raritan Valley. The first Falcons home games will be a day later, on Sunday March 20
th, when they host ASA Brooklyn for a doubleheader. Lackawanna has home match-ups with Monroe College, SUNY Sullivan, SUNY Ulster, Morris, Delaware Tech, UConn Avery Point, Montgomery County CC, Northampton CC, Harford CC, Mercer County CC, and both RCSJ Cumberland and Gloucester. Last year, Gloucester beat the Falcons twice in three games, en route to their own appearance in the NJCAA DIII World Series, where they'd make it to the semi-finals before falling.
The Falcons also have a road match-up with Misericordia JV, a pair of road trips to Carney's Point to take on Salem CC, and they will also play the team they beat in the District Championships last year to clinch a spot in the NJCAA World Series, when they travel to Rochester to take on the Monroe Community College Tribunes on March 26
th.
Lackawanna College went 29-13 during the 2021 season, winning both the Region XIX and NJCAA East District championships to clinch a spot in the NJCAA Division II World Series, the fourth time the Falcons have made an appearance in program history. The Falcons lost in their first game against Patrick & Henry College, and were then eliminated by Kirkwood Community College in their next game.
