Briaunna McCullough and Ciaira Loyd Named to All-Tournament Team, Coach Whittington Wins District O Coach of the Year Award

(Scranton, PA) – Lackawanna College was presented with 3 awards from the NJCAA DII Women's National Basketball Tournament. Briaunna McCullough and Ciaira Loyd were named to the All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performances. Coach Joya Whittington received the District O Coach of the Year Award. Lackawanna College would like to congratulate everybody on their awards and hard work this season.

Briaunna McCullough scored 74 points and 28 total rebounds over 4 games at the National Tournament. Her most exciting performance was in the first round against Moraine Valley. She recorded 31 points, 8 total rebounds, and 4 steals. She played an integral part in the Lady Falcons ascent to a Final Four appearance. McCullough was also awarded 2018-19 DII EPAC Player of the Year and 2018-19 Region XIX All-Region 1st Team this season.

Ciaira Loyd scored 42 points and 26 assists during the Lady Falcons 4 game National Tournament run. Ciaira's ball handling skills provided Lackawanna with several scoring opportunities. Her most exciting assist of the tournament came with 4.9 seconds to go against Moraine Valley in the first round. Loyd received the ball and dribbled past multiple defenders. As she pulled the defense out of position, she quickly passed the ball to Colleen Cwalina for the buzzer beating shot which propelled the Lady Falcons to round 2.

Coach Joya Whittington received the District O Coach of the Year Award. She helped lead the Lady Falcons to a 27-9 record and a Final Four appearance at the 2018-19 NJCAA DII Women's National Basketball Tournament. Coach Whittington and the Lady Falcons won District O and were runners-up in the Region XIX Conference Tournament.
