Loch Sheldrake, NY: Friday night, the women's basketball teams from Lackawanna College and Sullivan County Community College played an exciting back and forth game which ended in a 77-77 tie at the end of regulation. In overtime, the tenor of game didn't change as both teams came into the last 2-seconds of the first overtime tied at 89-89. At that point in the contest, Sophomore, Chyna Wooten, while driving the base line to take a last second shot, was fouled with 01.6 on the clock. The tension built when Wooten missed her first foul shot. However, she wasn't going allow this contest to go into a second OT, as she buried her second shot to give the Falcons a 90-89 lead that Sullivan could not overtake.
Taylor-Rae Styles, kept the Falcons in the game in the OT period as she scored 10 of her 22 points during that period, with 6 coming at the foul line. Briaunna McCullough made her contribution to the Lackawanna victory fourth quarter by accumulating 16 of her 21 points in that period; 12 of those points were from the three point line. The only other Falcon with double figure numbers was Kyla Smith who had 5 three pointers and a 2-point bucket for a total of 17 on the night.
On the boards both Jasmine Lewis and McCullough led the team in rebounds with 5 each. Styles had the team high in assists with 7.
The Falcons travel to Newark, New Jersey, on Tuesday, December 4th, to take on the Wolverines of Essex County College. Tuesday's game is a Region XIX DII contest and will tip off at 5:00 PM.
