(Scranton, PA) – Lackawanna College squeaked out a close victory against Bucks County CC, 79-75. The Falcons record now rests at 10-7 (7-2).
Lackawanna had the lead for most of the game on Tuesday night but that wasn't the entire story. An extra turnover or two could have seen Bucks County CC take an advantage. The Falcons were able to hold in the first half because of efforts from Ayo Shokeye and Keyon Faulkner-Smith. Shokeye recorded 9 points and provided several displays of great dribbling ability. Faulkner-Smith was able to score 8 points while working close to the net. Lackawanna led at halftime 33-31.
The Falcons held in the second half because of Talek Williams and the 16 points he scored. Williams was on the receiving end of two alley-oops, and managed to net 2 three-pointers. Lackawanna stayed focused, they won 79-75.
Keyon Faulkner-Smith – 22 points, 10 total rebounds, 2 assists
Talek Williams – 22 points, 6 total rebounds, 4 assists
Ayo Shokeye – 17 points
"It was a hard fought game, we made really good adjustments in the second half. We attacked the rim more, we shared more, and our rebounding was up. We got a couple more baskets to fall in the second half and we were able to grind out the win." – Head Coach Brian Coyle
The Falcons will hit the court again on Thursday January 17th at 7pm. They will be hosting Manor College at the Student Union. For all your news and updates please visit us on Facebook Lackawanna Falcons Athletics, Instagram @FalconsSports, and Twitter @falconssports
