Doylestown, PA – Sunday, The NJCAA 11th ranked Lackawanna College Football team claimed their third consecutive win of the 2018 season, with a 55-0 shutout of Delaware Valley University Junior Varsity. The Falcons used a balanced attack in the victory, using nine different runners to accumulate 4 touchdowns on 338 rushing yards and two quarterbacks to amass 4 more TDs on 270 yards. Defensively, Lackawanna held Delaware Valley to 64 total net yards.
The Falcons took control of the contest in the first half as they scored three touchdowns in each of the initial two periods to take a 41-0 lead. Darius Brown put the first points of the game with a 21-yard touchdown run, while Shane McLaughlin pitched two TDs to Javon Turner, one for 51 yards and the other for 18 yards. In the second quarter Rashard Jackson scored on an 11-yard run, while McLaughlin had two more passing scores, both to Norval Black. Those two aerial scores were for 43 yards earlier in the quarter and 9 yards just before the halftime break.
In the second half, both Marques DeShields and Reggie Jean-Charles contributed rushing scores. Deshields scored his on an 18-yard run with 3:19 left in the third period, while Jean-Charles scored the final TD of the game on a 1-yard rush with 7:32 left in the game.
Today's statistical leaders were Darius Brown with 63 net rushing yards on 3 carries; Shane McLaughlin with 232 passing yards with on 11 completions in 16 attempts; Harrison Dreher with 5 receptions for 82 yards; and Javon Turner with 91 receiving yards on three catches. Defensively, Brayden Brown and Leo Quigley led in tackles with 4 each.
Next Saturday, Lackawanna travels to Garden City, New York, to play long time rival, Nassau Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
