Scranton, PA – Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team opened their home schedule with a win over SUNY Ulster. The Falcons outslugged the Senators to claim a 21-7 victory.
Lackawanna scored first and often. They took a four run lead in the first, before giving back a run in the top of the third. The Falcons bounced back with four in the bottom of the third to give them an 8-1 lead. In the middle innings, the Lackawanna nine gave up a run but scored four more to give them a 12-2 lead after six. Although time would show that those were all the runs they would need, Lackawanna continued to score after the sixth, scoreing nine more runs to the Senator's five.
The Falcons scored those 21 runs with only nine hits. Three of those hits were home runs, while three more were doubles. In the first inning Marco Morales struck the first of those homers with a two-run blast. Thylar Summerall hit the next four bagger with a two shot in the sixth. Owen Kiess closed out the day for Lackawanna's long ball with a three run dinger in the seventh. The three doubles were contributed by Ryan Cole in the first, Jerry Reinhart in the fifth and DJ Barry-Staszak, also in the fifth. Of the remaining three hits, all were singles with Cole, Reinhart and Summerall each owning one, giving those three players multi-hit games.
Jacob Rajsigi earned the win, holding Ulster to two runs on six hits while striking out three. Also having outstanding relief performances were Christian Jorgenson and Justus Sanders. Each contributed a scoreless hitless inning.
Lackawanna plays again on Tuesday when they host SUNY – Sullivan at home for a single game. Tuesday's contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
