(Rochester, NY) – The Lackawanna Falcons played Monroe Community College on Sunday afternoon in a double-header. The Falcons won both games, 11-2 and 4-0. The Falcons record now sits at 10-7.
The Falcons jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first two innings of game 1. Ian Diaz hit an RBI single to left field to score Zac Granger. John Crane stepped in the box to hit another RBI single for the Falcons. Owen Kiess and Ryan Cole would hit RBI singles as well. The Falcons poured in more runs in the 4th inning as Owen Kiess stole home, John Crane hit a sacrifice fly, and Anthony Socci hit an RBI double. Falcons won 11-2. The winning pitcher was Grant Powell. He pitched 5 innings, gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs.
Ryan Cole: 3-4, 2 RBI
The second game was a much closer affair for both teams. Thylar Summarell opened up the knotted game in the 3rd inning. He hit a single to center field to score Zac Granger. Colin Weinert cracked an RBI double to left field to give Lackawanna a 2-0 lead in the headed into the 4th inning. The Falcons knocked in 2 more runs in the top of the 4th as DJ Barry-Staszak hit a sacrifice fly for an RBI and Ryan Cole hit an RBI single to left field. Lackawanna won game two 4-0. The winning pitcher was Nathan McLain. He pitched a complete game shut-out over 7 innings and only gave up 3 hits.
Thylar Summarell: 2-4, 1 RBI
