Lady Falcons Finish Second in Region XIX Volleyball Tournament

Dover, DE – Saturday Afternoon, the Lackawanna College volleyball team fell to Harcum College three sets to one in the Championship Match of the 2015 Region XIX Division II Volleyball Tournament. Lackawanna fell by score 25-16 and 25-19 in the opening two sets, only to rebound in the third with a 25-20 victory. In the fourth set Harcum claimed the championship with a 25-16 set victory.

The Lady Falcons advanced to the championship encounter with a three set to one victory over Delaware Technical Community College. Lackawanna won its first two sets by identical 25-15 scores before losing the third set by that same 25-15 score. It advanced when it claimed the fourth set of the semi-final match by a 25-19 score.

In the semifinal, the Falcons were led by JennVieve Martinez with her team high 13 kills and 19 digs. Also contributing was Gavyn Giza with 3 aces, 3 blocks and 9 kills. Mikayla Stange led the Falcons in assists with 30, while Carrie King led in digs with 20.

In the final, Martinez led the Falcons in kills with 10 and had the team high in aces with 3. Other notable performances were Stange's 24 assists and 18 digs and King's team leading 42 digs.

Recognizing their tourney performances, the opposing coaches and Region representatives voted Lady Falcons' Carrie King and JennaVieve Martinez to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Falcons finished the season with an overall record of 16 wins 10 losses and a tie.
