Randolph NJ – Tuesday night, Lackawanna College played their inaugural 2015 Region XIX Division II volleyball contests, in a tri-match sponsored by County College of Morris. The Falcons lost the first of the games they played to Del Tech Terry, 3-1; and won the night cap beating the host County College of Morris, 3-1.
In their first match of the evening, the Lady Falcons lost their first two sets to Del Tech by scores of 25-17 and 25-19. They bounced back in the third set to claim a 25-23 victory, only to lose in the fourth 25-22. Carrie King and Jenai Plowden led Lackawanna in kills for those matches with 8 each. Both Ashley Mescash and Gavyn Giza led in blocks with 2. Mikayla Stange was the team leader in assists with 25 and aces with 3. Plowden had the team high in digs with 31.
In the nightcap, Lackawanna took the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-13, before losing the third set 25-9. The Lady Falcons bounced back to take the fourth match winning set 25-21. Gavyn Giza led the Lackawanna in kills with 8; while Stange led in aces with 5. Other Falcons recording team highs were Stange with 29 assists and Plowden with 21 digs. Mescash had the Lackawanna's only block of the contest.
The Lady Falcons play next on Saturday, when they travel to Harrisburg Area Community College to play HACC and Bucks County Community College in an Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference tri-match. Game time for the initial contest is 11:00 AM.
