Bethlehem, PA – Friday afternoon, the Lackawanna College tennis team lost their season opener to Northampton Community College by a 8-1 score. Kara Voyton claimed the Falcons' only win, defeating her Northampton opponent 8-4.
In addition to Voyton, Brittney Mecca contributed an outstanding performance, despite the fact she suffered a loss. Mecca lost her first set 4-6 to her Northampton opponent and rebounded to win the second set 6-4. In the tie breaker, Mecca lost the match when she was outscored 10-7.
Lackawanna's head coach, Mohesh Koregaokar, felt that Friday's performances was a good start for his team, considering that their opponent, Northampton, is one of the better tennis squads in the Region.
The Lady Falcons won't get much rest, as they return to the court tomorrow to host Bucks County Community College in their home opener. Saturday's matches are scheduled to start at 1:00 PM and will be played at Scranton Prep's tennis courts. Those courts are located at the Loyola Athletic Complex, 1000 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, Pennsylvania
