SCRANTON, Pa. -- Tuesday, the Lackawanna College women's soccer team announced its 2018 schedule. It lists the most regular season games in the program's 13-year history. The Lady Falcons will host six home contests and play 11 more on the road.
On August 24, Head coach Rudy Roediger leads this year's squad to Baltimore, Maryland, for the program's first-ever meeting against the Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
Next, the Falcons travel across town to Dunmore, Pennsylvania to face non-conference foe, and USCAA member, Penn State Scranton on September 4 at 2 p.m..
After back-to-back road matches, the Falcons open their home slate and Region XIX schedule with a September 6 contest against the 2017 Region XIX DII Runner-up, the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College. That contest will be played at Scranton Prep's Loyola Field.
Following its 2018 home Region XIX home opener, Lackawanna travels to Newark, New Jersey on September 8 to play the Wolverines of Essex County College. This contest against last season's Region XIX DII Champions will start at 12 p.m.
The Mustangs of Montgomery County Community College is the in the first of two Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference matches the Falcons host at the University of Scranton Fitzpatrick Field. That game is scheduled for September 11. They then host the 2017 EPAC co-champion Bucks County Community College Centurions on September 13.
The Falcons return to Region play with a September 15 trip to Trenton, New Jersey for an all-important Region XIX contest against the Vikings of Mercer County Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
Lackawanna continues its road schedule with a pair of intrastate matches. On September 18, they play the Spartans of Northampton Community College at their Bethlehem, Pennsylvania campus, before heading to Schnecksville, Pennsylvania on September 20 to face the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College.
The Blue & Grey close out September with a September 27 home contest against the Blue Jays of Manor College at the brand new University of Scranton soccer complex.
Lackawanna opens October with a pair of road contests on October 2 and October 6. The Falcons first travel to Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to face their archrival, the Harcum College Bears, before setting off to Edison, New Jersey on the 6th to oppose the Colts of Middlesex County College in a tough non-conference match-up.
The Lady Falcons conclude their Region XIX home schedule, when the Falcons host the Titans of County College of Morris on October 7 at Scranton Prep Loyola Field.
The end of the regular season comes thick and fast as the Falcons play four matches in seven days. These contests include three road games, where they travel nearly a total of 800 miles for matches against Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, (October 9); Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania (Oct. 11); and its Region XIX DII final at Rowan College at Burlington County in Pemberton, New Jersey (Oct. 13).
The regular season concludes with sophomore day on October 16 at Scranton Prep Loyola Field against Northampton Community College.
