Lackawanna Wrestlers debut in first Dual Match in School History

Scranton, PA: Saturday, the Lackawanna College wrestling team finished the day without a team victory in the Electric City Duals, the first dual match in school history. However, the Falcons 'first year program did have individual wrestlers who excelled in the various team contests.

In their initial match of the day, Lackawanna fell to RPI 38-3. The Falcons scored their three points in the heavyweight match when Harry Lowber beat RPI's Owen Albanese 6-4.

In Lackawanna's second match of the day, they fell to the University of Scranton 32-11. The Lackawanna points came in the 133-pound weight class when Jason Ganser defeated Jake Thomson 11-1 for four points; in the 197-pound weight class, when Carson Kinney beat Keegan Connelly 2-1 for three points; and in the 285-weight class, when Alex LaGrippo claimed a decision over William Oxley 11-2 for four points.

In the its third match of the day, Lackawanna was shutout by the event's eventual team champion, Oneonta State, 48-0.

In the concluding match of the day, Temple University defeated Lackawanna 33-18. The Falcons accumulated their points when Joshua Rivera beat Noah Richley 7-1 in the 125-pound weight class for three points; Jaquan McPherson pinned Nathaniel Stemple in the 184-pound weight class for five points; Carson Kinney defeated Ernest Tessein in the 197-pound match 4-3 for three more points; and, Harry Lowber won the heavyweight match by forfeit for six more points..

Lackawanna takes the mat again when they participate in the Scotty Wood Duals next Saturday at Muhlenburg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  Saturday's match will start at 10:00 am.
