Scranton, PA - The Lackawanna College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that it will be adding Women's Bowling to their National Junior College Athletic Association sports offerings. Bowling will be the sixth women's sport sponsored at Lackawanna; joining basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
Lackawanna will be joining an elite group of twenty-six NJCAA schools who have made this sport available to their student body. In addition, it will be the first member of Region XIX's thirty-two educational institutions to include bowling as an NJCAA sponsored sport.
The Falcons won't have any trouble finding competition as there are numerous collegiate invitational bowling tournaments in the Northeast/New York/New England area. The opportunities to play individual head-to-head matches are available since sixteen of the twenty seven NJCAA teams are located in Regions adjoining Region XIX.
Although the Falcons' schedule has not been finalized, their season is allowed to run by the NJCAA from early October to the national championship which is held during the month of February.
