(Loch Sheldrake, NY) – The Lackawanna College Lady Falcons took on Union County College in the District N/O Championship on Sunday afternoon. Union CC defeated Lackawanna 69-64. In spite of a hard fought seeding battle against Union CC today, the Lady Falcons will head to the DII NJCAA National Tournament in Harrison, Arkansas representing District O.
Lackawanna started the game the game off spreading the ball around in the first half. Eight players managed to score, but most notably was Jasmine Lewis. She put up a team 1st half high of 7 points. Union took a 30-24 point lead into halftime.
Headed into the 4th quarter, Lackawanna was able to hit 10-13 of their foul shots and were assisted by a clutch 3-pointer from Taylor-Rae Styles. The Lady Falcons trailed by 14 points with just under 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Lackawanna found a way to cut the deficit to 4 with 30 seconds left. A hard drive by Ciaira Loyd would have cut the lead to just 2 points but was waived off due to a traveling call. The Lady Falcons were forced to put the Owls on the line which pushed the lead back to 5 with just seconds left on the game clock. Union CC won 69-64.
