(Scranton, PA) – The Lady Falcons defeated the Harcum College Bears 66-59 Saturday afternoon at the Region XIX Women's Basketball Tournament. This semi-final win puts the Lady Falcons into tomorrow's Region XIX Championship and clinches them a spot in next week's District Tournament. Tomorrow's game will be played at 12:00pm instead of 1:00pm due to possible inclement weather.
With a raucous crowd inside the Student Union, the Lady Falcons rose to the occasion and played a hotly contested matchup. This game saw nine lead changes, along with raw emotion throughout. Harcum defeated Lackawanna in both regular season matchups (72-61 and 96-71), but the Lady Falcons took the most important game of the year in front of their home fans.
The first quarter saw Harcum jump out to a 19-15 lead. The Bears shot over 44% from the floor in the first half. The Lady Falcons struck back in the second quarter. Kyla Smith finished the half with 8 points, while Taylor-Rae Styles scored 6 points. Harcum hurt themselves with 15 turnovers, while Lackawanna was able to keep calm when the Bear turned up the pressure. Outscoring Harcum 21-14 in the second quarter helped the Lady Falcons go into halftime with a 36-33 lead.
The second half was another fight between both teams. Kyla Smith, Briaunna McCullough, Keyanah Price, Shaylah Green, and Jamie Brann all found the bucket from outside the arc. Ciaira Loyd would play ball handler, finishing the game with 11 points and 8 assists. Harcum managed to tie the game even on more than one occasion, but the Lady Falcons persevered and pulled ahead late. Lackawanna defeated Harcum 66-59.

The Lady Falcons will step onto the court earlier than advertised tomorrow (Due to pending snow) at 12:00pm to play Union County College for the Region XIX Championship. Lackawanna has also already earned themselves a spot to play in next week's District Tournament for a chance to play in the NJCAA National Tournament. We will have more information soon.
