Lackawanna Lady Falcons drop their season opener 76-57

(Bronx, NY) – The Lackawanna College Lady Falcons fell on the road in their season opener against Hostos CC 76-57. Hostos Community College is the #1 ranked team in NJCAA Division 3.

The opening quarter saw the Lady Falcons take an 11-9 lead. Lackawanna was able to spread the ball around as Kyla Smith, Jasmine Lewis, Jamie Brann, Kiana Williams, and Briaunna McCullough scored 2 points each. Hostos rallied back in the 2nd quarter, they took back the lead 31-24.

Briaunna McCullough came alive for the Falcons in the 3rd quarter scoring 11 points which included two 3 pointers. Hostos led at the end of the 3rd quarter 59-45. Kyla Smith scored 7 points in the 4th quarter for Lackawanna but the Lady Falcons couldn't rally back. Hostos defeated Lackawanna 76-57.

The Lady Falcons next game is their home opener on Tuesday November 13th at 6pm vs Union County College. Fans can see the Lady Falcons this Sunday November 11th 1pm for their Hype for Hoops event as well. Hype for Hoops is a free community event that is open to the public. There will be free food, games, and it's a great chance to interact with Lackawanna's Men's and Women's basketball teams.
