West Windsor, NJ – Thursday night, Tearia Hartley had her second double-double of the week to lead the Lackawanna College Women's Basketball team to a 65-48 win over Mercer County Community College. Hartley scored 10 points and grabbed a team best 11 rebounds while dishing out 4 assists.
With the win the Lady Falcons now have a 23-4 overall win/loss record and a conference record of 18-1, with one game left at home. Of those contests, they have won 11 and lost 2 while on the road and are presently 12-2 at home. With a win in their game against Manor College this Saturday, Lackawanna would tie Union College for first place in the Region XIX Division II standings. Unfortunately for Lackawanna and Union, that seeding will not give them a bye as originally reported. Because of an agreement entered into by Region XIX and Region XXI, the six teams in Region XIX who have qualified for the Division II Tournament will play down to three on February 24th, with the Region's three highest seeds hosting a home game on that date. The following week, March 3rd and 4th, the District N-O Tournament will be played at Lackawanna College between the surviving three Region XIX teams and Community College of Rhode Island, the District XXI representative. Although, the Falcons will lose the bye, they may gain a home court advantage in the District Tournament, provided they win their qualifier on the 24th. Originally, the District Tourney was supposed to have been played at CCRI's Warwick, Rhode Island campus. Presently, the Falcons will have to wait till the February 18 seeding meeting to determine who they will face on the 24th.
This Saturday's game against Manor is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tipoff.
