  • Lackawanna Student-Athletes Recognized Nationally for Academic Proficiency

    Nineteen members of the Lackawanna College athletic teams were recently acknowledged nationally for their achievements in the classroom. The nineteen were named by the National Junior College Athletic Association to its All-Academic Team.
  • Five Falcon Basketball players move on to four year Schools

    Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics Joya Whittington announced that five sophomores from the 2017 -2018 Women’s Basketball team are moving on to various four-year schools next fall. All five young women made major contributors to a team that went 25-5 during the season and were nationally ranked through a good part of that campaign. Those five student athletes are Ciani Ballard, Arianna Sanders, Laquana Nagbe, Paris Thompson and Brittany Roberts. 
  • Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball to hold Elite Camp

    Head Women’s Basketball Coach Joya Whittington and her Coaching Staff will be holding an Elite Basketball Camp on Saturday, June 2nd from 10am-2pm at the Lackawanna College Student Union located at 500 Jefferson Avenue.
  • Lackawanna Trio named to All Region Team

    The Lackawanna College Athletic Department and its women's basketball program are honored to announce that three members of its 2017-2018 roster have been named to the Region XIX, Division II All Region Team. Ciani Ballard was selected to the All-Region First Team; while Quieterriua Gross received Second Team honors; and Mileisha Troche was named to Third team.
  • Lackawanna Women fall in Overtime

    Scranton, PA – In Saturday’s Region XIX/District N-O Women’s semifinals, Lackawanna College fell to Harcum College in overtime, 66-61. The Lady Falcons took the Bears into over time when Ciani Ballard scored on a runner with three seconds left in the ball game. However, Lackawanna ran out of steam in OT as Harcum bounced back to outscore the Falcons 16-8 in the extra period.
  • Lady Falcons win to move on to Region XIX/District N-0 DII Champion Round

    Scranton, PA – Saturday afternoon the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team beat Manor College to advance to the Region XIX/District N-O Division II Championship final four next weekend. The Lady Falcons were led by Taylor-Rae Styles’ team high 19 points.
  • Lackawanna Duo Recognized by EPAC

    Scranton, PA - The Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference has announced their Player of the Year in both Division II Men’s and Women’s Basketball. The honors were bestowed upon players representing Lackawanna College. The men’s honoree was Stevan Rodriguez, while women’s award went to Ciani Ballard.
  • Women’s Basketball Team earns #1 seed in Region XIX Tournament

    Women’s Basketball Team earns #1 seed in Region XIX Tournament Scranton, PA – The Lackawanna College Women’s basketball has officially earned the #1 seed for the 2017-2018 Region XIX Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Lady Falcons finished with a 19-1 region record and impressive overall record of 24-4. They are lead by sophomore Ciani Ballard who was named EPAC Player of the year, she is averaging 10 points per game along with 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
  • Lady Falcons clinch First Place Tie with Win

    Scranton, PA:  Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team clinched a tie for First Place in the Region XIX DII standings with 78-54 win over Manor College. The Lady Falcons were led by Laquana Nagbe, who had a team high 16 points.
  • Lackawanna completes Road Schedule with Win

    West Windsor, NJ – Thursday night, Tearia Hartley had her second double-double of the week to lead the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team to a 65-48 win over Mercer County Community College. Hartley scored 10 points and grabbed a team best 11 rebounds while dishing out 4 assists.
  • Lackawanna College Basketball Teams Host Benefit Games for Jalen Chandler

    SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Falcons will also host a "Cancer Awareness Day" during Men's and Women's basketball games versus Manor College on Saturday, February 17 at the Lackawanna College Student Union, 500 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton. Proceeds from the games that day will benefit Jalen Chandler, an eighth-grade South Scranton Intermediate School student-athlete who was recently diagnosed with myeloid leukemia.
  • Lackawanna keeps Title Hopes Alive with Win over RCBC
    February 13, 2018
    Pemberton, NJ: Led by Tearia Hartley’s double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team claimed at 63-47 win over Rowan College of Burlington County. The win leaves the Lackawanna with a 17-1 Region XIX Division II win/loss record with two conferences games left. The Falcons can guarantee a tie for first place with Union County College by winning Thursday’s game against Mercer County Community College and Saturday’s home contest versus Manor College. Lackawanna can take sole possession of first place, if Union falls to Raritan Valley Community College on Thursday.
  • Lackawanna Falls To Harford

    Scranton, PA – Monday night, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team fell to NJCAA Division I Harford Community College by a 93-65 score. The loss dropped Lackawanna’s overall win/loss record to 21-4, but it does not affect the its Region XIX Division II standings since it was a non-conference contest.
  • Lackawanna Clinches Bye with Win over Morris.

    Scranton, PA - Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team clinched a bye into the Region XIX Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament with a 74-43 win over County College of Morris. The Lady Falcons victory gives them a Region win/loss record of 16-1 with three conference games left to play. Even if Lackawanna lost all three of those contests, the only team that has a mathematical chance to tie Lackawanna would be Harcum College. Because of the home and away matchup with the Bears where the Lady Falcons swept both games, the tie breaker would go to Lackawanna. The bye into the Regional Tourney is especially important to the Falcons since they are now guaranteed to play all tournament games on their home court, since Lackawanna is the host site of the 2018 tournament the weekend of February 24 - 25.

  • Lackawanna upsets Union in crucial Region XIX contest
    February 06, 2018
    Scranton, PA – Thursday night, Taylor-Rae Styles netted 18 points to lead the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team to an 82-68 upset of Union County College. The win knocked Union from the ranks of the undefeated in Region XIX Division II play and put the Falcons in contention for a number seed in the upcoming Region XIX Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament. Union is now 16-1 with three Region games left on their schedule, while the Falcons are 14-1 with five games left.
  • Lackawanna claims Victory in key Region XIX Battle

    Bryn Mawr, PA – The Region XIX Division II game between the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team and its counterpart at Harcum College is always a hard-fought battle. Saturday’s game was no different as Harcum took the first half lead of 31-30. In the second half, the momentum changed for Lackawanna, as they outscored Harcum 28-11 in the third quarter and 16-15 in the final period to claim a 74-57 victory.

  • Lackawanna Women win on the road at Essex
    January 30, 2018
    Newark, NJ – Tuesday night the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team protected their second-place position in the Region XIX standings with a 94-33 road win over Essex County College.  The Lady Falcons were led to the victory by Mileisha Troche’s 18-point scoring effort.
  • Lackawanna Lady Falcons fall at Home

    Scranton, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball fell to ASA College Brooklyn 108-66. It was the Lady Falcons first home loss of the 2017-18 basketball season. Prior to Saturday’s game Lackawanna had won its previous 10 games at Lackawanna’s Student Union.
  • Lady Falcons beat CCBC – Catonsville at Home

    Scranton, PA. – A 18-point 18 rebound performance by Colleen Cwalina led the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team to an 84 -43 win over CCBC – Catonsville in a Thursday night contest played at the Lackawanna College Student Union. The win improves the Lady Falcons’ win/loss record to an impressive 16-2.
  • Lackawanna beats RVCC in Lions’ Den
    January 23, 2018
    North Branch, NJ – Tuesday night, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team beat Raritan Valley Community College on the Lions’ home court, 89-68. The win keeps the Falcons one game behind first place Union County College in the Region XIX Division II race.
  • Lackawanna opens Spring Half of Region XIX Division II play with a Win

    Scranton, PA – Sparked by the overall performance of Ciani Ballard, the Lackawanna College women’s basketball team outscored Delaware Technical Community College, 74-38 for their 10th Region XIX, Division II win of the season. Ballard netted 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.
  • Lackawanna falls to Monroe

    Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team fell to Monroe College in a non-conference contest played at New Rochelle, New York. Monroe outscored the Lady Falcons 83-70.
  • Lackawanna Women start 2018 with Easy Victory

    Scranton, Pa – Tuesday night, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team started the spring portion of their season with an easy 92-26 win over cross county rival Luzerne County Community College. Leading the Falcons in scoring was Ciani Ballard with 16 points. She also contributed 5 assists.
  • Lady Falcons suffer first loss of 2017 Campaign

    Cranford, NJ – Thursday evening, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team suffered their first loss of the 2017-18 basketball season. The Lady Falcons lost to Union County College by a score of 74-69. With the defeat, the Lackawanna ladies finished the first half of their season with an overall win/loss record of 12-1 and a Region XIX DII record of 9-1.
  • Lady Falcons remain undefeated with a win over Essex
    December 12, 2017
    Scranton, PA – Tuesday night, the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team beat Essex County College 77-38 to improve their Region XIX Division II conference win/loss record to 8-0. The Lady Falcons were led by Mileisha Troche and Quieterriua Gross. Troche had 18 points with 12 coming from the three-point line, while Gross scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
  • Lackawanna outbattles Harcum for Vital Conference Win

    Scranton, PA – Point guard, Ciani Ballard led the Lackawanna College Women’s Basketball team to a 60-59 win over the Falcons’ archrival, Harcum College. Ballard scored 20 points and dished out 8 assists. More importantly she scored Lackawanna’s last 8 points, which inc luded a three-pointer giving the Falcons a 55-53 lead with 3:23 in the game and a two pointer with 0:13 left on the clock to give Lackawanna a 60-57 lead that Harcum could not overcome.
  • Lady Falcons win key Region XIX Contest

    Scranton, PA – Thursday night, Quieterriua Gross and Meleisha Troche led the Lackawanna College Women’s basketball team to a 94-62 victory over Raritan Valley.  Gross had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds; while Troche had 20 points scoring 18 of those from the three point line where she connected on 6 of 9 attempts. The Lions entered the game with a 3-1 conference win/loss record and third place in the Region XIX standings. With the win Lackawanna improved their conference record to 7-0.
  • Lady Falcons win key Region XIX contest

    Jenkintown, PA - Year in, year out, the game between Lackawanna College and Manor College at Manor is always significant because it is tough place to play and the outcome always seems to have an effect on the final standings, either outright or as part of the tie breaker criteria. Hence today's 82-42 win over Manor by Lackawanna has special significance for Lackawanna.
